Week 7 Waiver Wire

With Week 6 now in the books, we look ahead to Week 7 and give you some players who can help you this week from the waiver wire. With 6 teams on bye this week, these guys will be needed for you to fill those large voids.

Elijah Mitchell, RB

There is one a heck of tricky situation unfolding in San Francisco right now. Christian McCaffrey is dealing with injuries to either his ribs, his obliques, or both. He was sent for an MRI on Monday, and the Niners are playing it close to the vest as to how severe the injury/injuries might actually be. He may miss no time, or he may miss multiple games. I know in the game against Cleveland we saw Jordan Mason handle to bulk of the work after CMC’s departure, but Mitchell has a history of succeeding after CMC goes down, so I’m choosing to say he still carries value as a precautionary stash as we wait to hear more about CMC’s prognosis.

Week 6 Stats: -0.30 Points – (2 rush, -3 rush yds)

FAAB Bid: $7-$20

Jordan Mason, RB

Mason was the surprise beneficiary after CMC went down this past Sunday, not Elijah Mitchell as many would have guessed. He definitely increased his own value and is now in the territory of being a solid precautionary add in the event that CMC does miss time. While the reports are still developing on the future status of McCaffrey, you will need to make moves before there is a totally clear picture on what his Week 7 availability is going to be. In this case, I’d toss a couple bucks at both Mason and Mitchell, considering both have shown the ability to have value when snaps at the RB position open up.

Week 6 stats: 8.70 points (5 rush, 27 rush yds, TD)

FAAB Bid: $7-$19

Jeff Wilson, RB

Another week, another time I urge you to pick up Jeff Wilson. He’s one week closer to returning, and with Achane set to miss some time with a knee injury and heading to IR, we know there are snaps to go around at the RB position in Miami. Mostert is still killing it, so his role is likely solidified, but this past week the Fins elevated Salvon Ahmed and he was able to actually find the endzone. If Wilson is healthy enough to go, expect Ahmed to disappear while Wilson thrives.

Week 6 stats: DNP

FAAB Bid: $7-$15

Curtis Samuel, WR

I have beaten this horse to death at this point, and I’m not sure what else you all need to see out of Samuel. Three straight double digit games is all you should need to see. Even if you’re not going to start him, he’s outplaying other guys you’re currently stashing on your bench, and you can’t make that make sense. Add him to your team, and if you’re not going to play him, you can probably find a WR-needy team to trade him to.

Week 6 stats: 12.20 points (4 tgts, 4 rec, 142 rec yds, TD)

FAAB Bid: $7-$12

Jamaal Williams, RB

Williams is one week closer to making his return from IR, and then we will finally see him and Kamara on the field together at the same time, which the Saints desperately need. Kamara is doing what he can, but Kendre Miller has been inconsistent in relief, so the Saints will surely be quick to insert their veteran RB in Williams right into the lineup. Personally, I expect to see him contribute immediately, as a guy who truly has all the tools and will work as a perfect complement to Alvin Kamara.

Week 6 stats: DNP

FAAB Bid: $3-$9

Kareem Hunt, RB

No other way to put it…. RIP to the Haters and Losers who said Kareem lost a step. He has come back and immediately filled in for Nick Chubb, not at the same level we see from Chubb, but still damn effective as he still plays himself into game shape. A 14.60 point outing in Week 6 puts him squarely in must add territory, especially coming against an elite defense like the Niners. This week, he draws a much softer matchup with Indy, and I would expect more of the same, especially if PJ Walker remains the QB with Watson still sitting out.

Week 6 stats: 14.40 points (12 rush, 47 rush yds, TD, 3 tgts, 3 rec, 24 rec yds)

FAAB Bid: $4-$9

Craig Reynolds, RB

With Montgomery picking up a rib cartilage injury and Dan Campbell confirming he “will be out a little while” and Gibbs still nursing his hamstring injury, Craig Reynolds is next man up in Detroit. While he hasn’t been particularly efficient, he will be on the field, and nothing is more important than stashing guys who are seeing big snaps, especially as we head into Bye Week Hell Weeks.

Week 6 stats: 5.30 points (10 rush, 15 rush yds, 2 tgts, 2 rec, 28 rec yds)

FAAB Bid: $3-$8

Wan’Dale Robinson, WR

When a guy pulls in 8 catches on 8 targets, I usually take notice. When they do it against a Bills defense who is typically one of the better units in the NFL, I pay even more attention. Robinson has been waiting for his shot to break out in the NFL, and that time might be coming sooner rather than later. He and Tyrod Taylor seem to be on the same page, so even if Danny Dimes sits again, I don’t hate his value. Toss a couple bucks at him and see how it goes.

Week 6 stats: 10.20 (8 tgts, 8 rec, 62 rec yds)

FAAB Bid: $4-$8

Josh Downs, WR

I think I’ve said it every year we’ve been doing TSF, but when a backup QB comes in for the starter, look for the depth WRs on the team to succeed. These are they guys who they have built more rapport with all season in practice as they take reps with the second units together. And Josh Downs has now posted double digit points in the two weeks that Gardner Minshew has been under center for the Colts. I’m not promising this trend will continue, especially given the fact he only hit double digits due to a TD last week, but watching him play, I still like what I see. I’d prefer him on my bench that other guys who are being rostered at much higher rates.

Week 6 stats: 10.60 points (8 tgts, 5 rec, 21 rec yds, TD)

FAAB Bid: $5-$8

Ezekiel Elliott, RB

Elliott showed a lot of pop this past week against the Raiders, and with the Patriots inept offense in desperate need of playmakers, he might find himself with a lot of opportunity going forward. At a meager 43% ownership, he is likely available in most redraft leagues, and if he continues to break huge runs and remain on the field while Rhamondre Stevenson continues to struggle, he is surely worth a pickup. Don’t forget, he had a 74 yard catch and run called back on a very soft holding call this past week, so his point total could be substantially higher than it is.

Week 6 stats: 11.40 points (7 rush, 34 rush yds, TD, 1 tgt, 1 rec, 15 rec yds)

FAAB Bid: $3-$7

Kendrick Bourne, WR

Not a stud this year by any means, but the one weapon that’s actually working in the Patriots offense through 6 weeks of this NFL season. If they intend to compete in games at all this year, Bourne will need to continue to be a focal point of the offense. I don’t think he gives you double digit points consistently, but he will definitely give you flashes and is about as boom or bust as it gets.

Week 6 stats: 12.6 (11 tgts, 10 rec, 89 rec yds)

FAAB Bid: $3-$7

Keaontay Ingram, RB

Everyone ran out and added Emari Demercado, but quickly forgot that last year when Conner missed time, Keontay Ingram was the one who seized his opportunity. For those who remembered, they were the beneficiaries of Ingram’s 10 carries to Demercado’s measly 3. While Ingram is yet to have a monster game in the league, he is still worth a look in deeper fantasy formats, as a guy who will continue to see snaps and should have plenty of opportunities to sneak into the endzone.

Week 6 stats: 14.1 (10 rush, 40 rush yds, 2 tgts, 2 rec, 11 rec yds)

FAAB Bid: $3-$6

Remember, bye week hell is upon us, so make sure you spend some FAAB this week to get these guys!
