Week 6 – Start and Sits

Every week the TSF crew squares off against each other to see who has the best hit and miss percentage of the week with our positional starts and sits with 1 featured sleeper and dart throw of the week. Read and follow along with your favorite TSF analyst and get some insight on players we like this week and some deep players to keep an eye on for any given week.

Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
I can’t find the correct weeks to use Caleb as a start, but I am more positive this week than I was in Week 4. Caleb is coming off of his best NFL and fantasy football game so far in his young career last week. He threw for 304 yards, two touchdowns, and gave us some rushing yards on the ground. This is more of the Caleb stat line we all thought we would see and he should be able to come close to it again against Jacksonville. They give up the most points to opposing QBs as well as the most passing yards to them as well. People will pause to start him because the game is in London, but this is the perfect time to prove the doubters wrong.
– Scott
Dak Prescott – Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions
Getting Dak for a start at the QB spot with a 69% starting percentage feels criminal. Feels like I’m puling a fast one on y’all. But 31% of people are somehow worrying about the Detroit defense so much that they are going to sit the QB7 on the season? Makes no sense to me. I’m going to take the safe money and say this game turns into a shootout, and with an O/U line set at 53 points, it would appear Vegas agrees. Ceedee and Dak should look to stay on the same page and connect often, and that’s all you need to ensure a solid outing for Dak.
– Cory
Najee Harris – Pittsburgh Steelers @ Las Vegas Raiders
Harris is not the most exciting player to talk about or even watch on the NFL field, but a big part of fantasy football is matchups and opportunities. Both Warren and Patterson are ruled out for Week 6, so by default, Harris should see mostly all of the RB work against the Raiders. Harris is not carrying the ball well this season, but he gets a great matchup to boost that YPC up. The Raiders give up just over 5 YPC to opposing RBs and every back has had at least 12 Half PPR points in every game against them. If there is a week for Harris to have his best game of the season, it is this week.
– Scott
Austin Ekeler – Washington Commanders @ Baltimore Ravens
As Ekeler continues to return to full health coming off the concussion and one game absence, he continues to see about a 50% snap share in every game. With the knee injury to his running mate Brian Robinson, I think he could see that number increase a bit in Week 6. And in a game that I expect to see the Ravens winning, there should be cause for the Commanders to lean more on Ekeler’s skillset than on BRob’s. Add in the fact that Ekeler has yet to post a game with less than 10 fantasy points this season (in PPR formats), even with his limited usage, and I love the upside he offers this week.
– Cory
Darnell Mooney – Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers
I am sick of seeing Mooney put up points on my bench, so I pretty much have to make him a start this week. Mooney put up 27 points last week and it could have been higher if he did not drop that ball at the end of game, but I think we will all take 27 all day. Mooney saw 16 targets last game and although I do not think he will do that again, it shows that he is a guy that Cousins trusts next to London. The Falcons passing game is really coming in to their own and they take on the Panthers this week who are one of the weaker teams in the NFL against opposing WRs. A guy that plays almost 100% of snaps has to be starter in all formats.
– Scott
Jameson Williams – Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys
A very strange 52% start rate for a guy who has only had one bad game this season. He also matches up with the Dallas defense, who have been extremely subpar thus far this season, and are surely susceptible to the big play threat that Williams provides the Lions offense. Add in the fact that Detroit is coming off their bye week, giving them extra time to prepare for the Cowboys, and I’m all in on Jame-O this week.
– Cory
Kyle Pitts – Atlanta Falcons @ Carolina Panthers
I picked Tucker Kraft last week and after he went off, I think starting him again is just too obvious. This week I will go with Kyle Pitts and a lot of the same arguments can be said in the reasoning why I picked Mooney as a start as well. Pitts also had his best game in Week 5 and saw a season high in targets, receptions, and yards on the season. After scoring a goose egg in Week 4, it showed that the team wanted to get him going and get him going early. Pitts also looked a lot better and more fluid last week compared to all other weeks. The Panthers allow the sixth most fantasy points to TEs this season, so I am fine putting him out there.
– Scott
Dalton Schultz – Houston Texans @ New England Patriots
Schultz has had a very quiet and lackluster start to the season, but luckily for him, he’s got New England on the calendar this week. We just saw Jonnu Smith put up a solid line against them, and Schultz is undoubtedly in the better offense vs. Miami, so I would expect to see him utilized quite a bit this week. To boot, Nico Collins will miss this contest with a hamstring injury, freeing up a few extra targets to go around, of which I expect Schultz to be the beneficiary. I would play him with confidence for a top 10 TE finish in Week 6.
– Cory
Tank Dell – Houston Texans @ New England Patriots
Tank Dell has been one of the bigger busts this season and the biggest reason why is because Nico Collins and Stefon Diggs have put up WR1 numbers so far this season. We thought there would be an odd man out, but not like this. The reason Dell is a play for me this week is because Nico Collins is on IR, so that opens up several vacated targets right there. They also play the Patriots this week and I really do not need to discuss how bad the Pats are as a team. The only thing to worry about is if the team is up big and they just run the ball, but Dell should do enough work early in the game to be a fine start.
– Scott
Rashid Shaheed – New Orleans Saints vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
For the WR15 on the season, Shaheed doesn’t get nearly enough respect. 52% started should be a jailable offense for the 48% of people throwing dirt on his name! Double digits in all but one matchup this year, and that one game was against Philly where he still saw 5 targets. I know there is some concern about the QB play in New Orleans this week, but I believe Spencer Rattler has the audacity to chuck the ball like a real gunslinger, and if he’s out there throwing bombs, Shaheed is the one who will be asked to go run them down. Olave will stick to his nice crisp route running and Rattler will miss him by 15 feet, but then Shaheed will run a fly route and Rattler will hit him in stride for a big score. Book it.
– Cory
Jared Goff – Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys
Right before their Week 5 bye, Goff out up his best game of the season with 26 points and did not throw an incompletion in the game. It was also the first game where he did not throw a pick in 2024, but he goes up against Dallas this week. The Dallas defense has been solid against opposing QBs and if there is one area that defense lacks in is against the run. Detroit has the best backfield duo in the NFL, so I expect Gibbs and Montgomery both to have big fantasy days. Goff is not going to catch a TD every game, so that is why I am taking his big Week 4 as an outlier. It will be hard for him to get over 20 points this week.
– Scott
Josh Allen – Buffalo Bills @ New York Jets
Since I took the copout on Dak as my start, I really had to ramp it up with a bold sit. And that bold sit is…. Josh Allen. He’s posted a couple stinkers back to back (7.30 and 14.54 fantasy points the last two times out), and he’s a bit dinged up after taking a beating last week vs. the Texans. He’s also got the daunting matchup of the Jets defense this week, who should look to rally off the firing of Robert Saleh, as we’ve seen in years past. So you take a tough D, fire them up, and still expect and injured Josh Allen to lead you to victory? I just don’t see it. I think you’d be better off with a number of other options this week.
– Cory
Javonte Williams – Denver Broncos vs. Los Angeles Chargers
The RB sit situation has been difficult because every time I pick someone, they get ruled out, so I am scraping to try and find a RB sit that is not obvious. With that, we always have to pick one that is a hard sit and I am going with Williams this week. He has been trending up the last two weeks and really looks like the best RB in the backfield. The reason I would sit him this week is because they are playing the Chargers who are top 5 in the NFL defending against the run. With that, it will be hard for Williams to get those one or two big runs he has been getting the last two weeks.
– Scott
Joe Mixon – Houston Texans @ New England Patriots
“***UPDATE*** With Brian Robinson officially ruled out of Sunday’s contest vs. Baltimore, I’ve been forced to pivot. Instead, I’ll be recommending to fantasy studs like yhe Shelfies that we all sit Joe Mixon this week. And it’s not just because Scott has him versus me in a head to head matchup this week! He’s coming off an injury that took multiple weeks to heal up enough for him to return to play, and he draws a matchup with the Patriots, who I expect to get rocked by the far superior Texans team, even with the bump I think the team will get from Drake Maye taking snaps under center. So if we assume a gameflow that is resultant of a Texan blowout, you may be saying “”well then Cory, wouldn’t that mean Houston will be running a ton?””. Why yes, fine sir, you are correct. However, I think they would be wise to rest Mixon even more, and instead lean on Dameon Pierce and Ogunbowale, who each would benefit from a low-pressure game where they both just get their legs underneath them. A touchdown in short yardage or something is always the looming threat for a RB sit, but I think Mixon is a huge risk for a minimal usage, low point total game, and personally, unless forced into starting him due to other injuries around the league, I would hunt for another option this week. He burned me as my RB sit a week ago, but I’m back for more punishment! Here’s the thing…if he doesn’t punch in two short yardage scores last week, he ends with an awful day. So really I’m just playing the odds that he doesn’t turn 7 touches into 2 touchdowns again this week. And against a tougher Baltimore defense, I would expect him to be less effective, even on the goal line and in limited use. There’s also the fact to consider that the Commanders may not be playing with the lead much in this one, given the talent on the Ravens side of the ball, and they may abandon the run with BRob in favor of a more dynamic attack with Ekeler, or the game gets out of hand early and they shut down BRob altogether to give him some more time to recover from the knee injury he’s currently battling through. No matter how you slice it, I think there are better RBs out there to play this week. “

Christian Kirk – Jacksonville Jaguars @ Chicago Bears
Kirk had a rough start to the season, but he has double digit fantasy points in each game during the last three weeks. That sounds fine, but his best game in that span was just under 16 fantasy points, so it is not like he is blowing the doors off in any of those weeks. His targets in Week 3 and 4 jumped up to double digits, but last week, he only saw 4 targets. This is concerning because Evan Engram was still out and you would expect him to see a high number of targets because of that. Engram is back this week and Brian Thomas Jr. looks to be the clear WR1 in that offense. Kirk just does not have enough opportunity with Engram back to see those high targets anymore.
– Scott
Christian Kirk – Jacksonville Jaguars @ Chicago Bears
Hate to agree with Scotty on anything, but here we are. He nailed it. Kirk is due for a letdown game, and traveling across the pond to London for a 9:30am game is just the thing to throw a wrench into an offense that looks like it may be starting to click. I think BTJ will still get his targets, but he’s also a tough start in Week 6, as offense usually tends not to travel to London well. I would take caution with all your Jaguar starts this week, and Kirk I think is the riskiest of the bunch.
– Cory
Dallas Goedert – Philadelphia Eagles vs. Cleveland Browns
I get that it is difficult to bench a TE who is currently TE5 on the season and it would be higher if he did not just have his bye week. Solid fantasy TEs are hard to come by these days, so I get it if you tell me to sound sand and you put him in your lineup. The reason I am not trusting him this week is because both AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith are back and fully healthy. We always talk about how we like TEs in fantasy if they are the team’s first or second option in the pass game. With the WR core healthy, Goedert moves back to the third option at best in this offense and he does not have a TD this year, so it is hard to just blank on that for points.
– Scott
Sam LaPorta – Detroit Lions @ Dallas Cowboys
Look, plain and simple, LaPorta has not been the same guy he was last year, and a has not been the guy you hoped he would be this season. He was drafted very high in both redraft and dynasty formats, and he has yet to fulfill the expectations people had for him. At some point (and that point is now), we need to all stop wishing for him to be something he isn’t, and look for better options. He could very well turn it around any given week, he has the talent, but for the time being, if you drafted LaPorta, you should be streaming matchup dependent TEs until he shows he can get back to the dominant form he showed us in his rookie season.
– Cory
Rico Dowdle – Dallas Cowboys vs. Detroit Lions
Dowdle has clearly taken over the Dallas backfield and in the last two weeks, it has not been close. He has given you over 12 fantasy points in Half PPR the last two weeks, so I get why it would be hard to sit him as a flex option. Detroit has allowed the fewest rushing and receiving yards to opposing RBs this season, so if Dallas wants to be in this game, it will be in the passing game. Dowdle I love going forward this season and good for you if you snagged him early, but keep him on the bench this week.
– Scott
Antonio Gibson – New England Patriots vs. Houston Texans
This 9% number will creep up as we get closer to gametime and more teams realize Rhamondre Stevenson isn’t playing, but it shouldn’t! Gibson is a trap play, no doubt about it. I know a lot of people will say “well someone has to run the ball in NE”, and well… no they don’t. The Pats will likely be down huge to the Texans and abandoning the running game, and while Gibson can still do some damage as a pass catcher (and it’s this fact that might bite me with him as a sit in PPR leagues), I don’t expect it to be enough volume to buoy him to a starting caliber week in fantasy. For example, Sleeper has him projected to score 10.2 fantasy points, and a lot of people are going to go “OMG WHAT A VALUE PLAY” and to those people I say…. you’re dumb.
– Cory
Keenan Allen – Chicago Bears vs. Jacksonville Jaguars
Oh how we miss the old days where Keenan Allen was just putting up points each week and was a borderline WR1. Time goes by way too fast in fantasy, but it is part of life. Allen has not done anything this season and he is even a guy many teams have already cut off of their roster which I get. The reason I am giving him another shot is because they go up against the Jags who are a bottom three defense against WRs. Caleb is coming in to his own and Allen’s snap percentage is going up each week since coming back from injury. If there is a week to start him, it is this week and if he puts up a low score again, then you have my permission to drop him.
– Scott
Deandre Hopkins – Tennessee Titans vs. Indianapolis Colts
This might be the biggest name in sleeper history, if it weren’t for Scott tossing Keenan Allen in his sleeper spot this week. Both great picks, both true legends of the game who still have a lot in the tank, and two guys who have plus matchups this week. If you’re fighting through bye week hell, Hopkins is a great play. He’s a guy who is always one good ball away from a TD, and has still shown plenty of athleticism to compete at the NFL level this year. He just needs a QB to get him the ball on time and on target, which has been the real issue for the Titans offense through the first few weeks of the season. Hopefully coming out of the bye week last week they will have had some time to get those issues addressed and corrected for the Week 6 tilt against Indy, who is one of the weaker secondaries in the league in terms of fantasy points allowed to opposing wideouts.
– Cory
Dameon Pierce – Houston Texans @ New England Patriots
Pierce is finally healthy and it took all the way to Week 6! He now lines up to be the starting RB for Houston against a weak Pats defense, but oh wait, Joe Mixon is now healthy as well. It is great for fantasy that Mixon is back, but I am not sure how big the workload will be his first week back. The fact they play the Patriots is the reason I believe Pierce will get some work as well. If they are up big, there is no reason to use Mixon all game which helps Pierce see the field. There are worse options out there!
– Scott
Sean Tucker – Tampa Bay Buccaneers @ New Orleans Saints
Talk about a dart throw baby! Tucker should see an increased role in the ever so likely event that Rachaad White misses this game with the foot injury he’s dealing with. And I know Bucky Irving has looked solid this year, so he’s definitely next man up, but Tucker is a guy who can do some damage out of the backfield when called upon, and is also already on the 53-man roster as a kick returner, so he’s already been at practice and taking reps. I like his odds of seeing an expanded role in Week 6, and hopefully the 22 year old sophomore can find some running lanes!
