The fantasy football season is here and we are already dealing with multiple injuries and low owned players going off. We will help you throughout the season decide who to pick up and how much FAAB to bid on each player. The waiver wire is a big part of how you win your league, so don’t miss out on these players!
Jamaal Williams, RB
This 61% ownership is set to explode this week, with the news that Swift is going to miss at least the next two weeks with his shoulder and ankle injuries plaguing him. Williams has already snuck himself into a top-7 RB spot alongside a healthy Swift, so it will be very interesting to see what he can do in the lead role. He is immediately a viable starter in all formats (if Swift does sit out like Dan Campbell is indicating he will) with RB1 upside and a solid Flex play floor.
Week 3 Stats: 24.70 points (20 att, 87 rush yds, 2 rush TDs, 2 tgts, 2 rec, 20 rec yds)
FAAB Bid: $17 – $34
Khalil Herbert, RB
At this point, David Montgomery is day-to-day with multiple lower body injuries, but he was not able to return to the field on Sunday after leaving. With that, Herbert had an explosive game with 169 total yards and 2 scores. I would think that Monty will miss Week 4, but even if he does not, Herbert has done more than enough to earn an increased role in the run-first offense. This is one of those guys you need to get now if he is out there because he could end up being the pickup of the year.
Week 3 stats: 30.90 points (20 att, 157 rush yds, 2 rush TDs, 2 tgts, 2 rec, 12 rec yds)
FAAB Bid: $15 – $31
Alexander Mattison, RB
With the dislocated shoulder for Dalvin Cook, Mattison should see an increased role in Week 4. Cook is labeled day-to-day so there is still a chance he plays, but if the Vikings are smart, they sit him for the game in London, so he is back 100% in Week 5. Mattison is already owned in over 50% of leagues, but if he is out there go and pick him up. Even if Cook only misses one game, Mattison should do enough for you to get the job done. If you own Cook, then shame on you for not having Mattison already on your team.
Week 3 stats: 11.40 points (7 att, ,28 rush yds, 1 rush TD, 1 tgt, 1 rec, 16 rec yds)
FAAB Bid: $10 – $20
Robert Woods, WR
You may already have this guy on your team if you listened to our hold/fold segment a week ago, and if you listened, good for you. Now you get to save some FAAB. If you didn’t, you missed Woods’ best week of the season. He gave you 10.5 points without scoring a TD, saw 9 targets, and was on the field nearly 75% of the offensive snaps. Those are numbers I like to see, especially as he heads into a matchup with Indy.
Week 3 stats: 12.50 points (9 tgts, 4 rec, 85 rec yds)
FAAB Bid: $6 – $11
Romeo Doubs, WR
Doubs was a great preseason story for the Packers and although he got off to a slow start, he hit big in Week 1 with 73 yards and a TD. While it did help that Christian Watson and Sammy Watkins missed the game in Week 3, Watkins is now on the IR and Watson has not had the trust with Aaron Rodgers to date. Lazard of course is still there, but without TDs, he does not do much for fantasy football. Doubs could be the go-to WR for Rodgers and that is the WR I want to own.
Week 3 stats: 21.30 points (8 tgts, 8 rec, 73 rec yds, TD)
FAAB Bid: $5 – $8
Greg Dortch, WR
Still owned in only 18% of leagues, Dortch showed us once again he needs to be rostered. Rondale Moore has yet to play with a hamstring injury and the team has said he “could” be back by Week 4 or 5. Even if Moore is back this week, it will be his first game of the year and with the connection Dortch already has with Kyler, Dortch has likely carved out a big enough role even when Moore is back. He has 23 targets through 3 weeks, and this is a team who will be passing the ball a lot this season. Grab the young stud now.
Week 3stats: 17.00 points (10 tgts, 9 rec, 80 rec yds)
FAAB Bid: $4 – $8
Michael Gallup, WR
Gallup almost played in Week 3, so a Week 4 return is almost a guarantee. He’s only at 36% owned in Yahoo Leagues.. so that means he’s likely out there in your league. Go grab him. We’ve seen Noah Brown crush it so far through 3 weeks of the season, and his role likely gets turned over to Gallup as soon as he steps back on the field. This is the cheapest you will be able to buy Gallup all season.
Week 3 stats: N/A
FAAB Bid: $4 – $8
Russel Gage, WR
He was the sole benefactor of the absences for Julio, Evans, and Godwin from Tampa’s passing attack, but so be it. If he can log 13 targets and 12 catches with a TD every week… I’ll be stoked. Evans will be back this week, but Godwin and Julio are still big question marks for TB. If I were a betting man, I would insist on stashing Gage for at least one more week as you wait to see how things shake out. If he is still the #2 WR there come Sunday, he is worth a start, especially if Brady is comfortable throwing him 13 balls in one game.
Week 3 stats: 24.70 (13 tgts, 12 rec, 87 rec yds, TD, Fumble)
FAAB Bid: $3 – $5
Samaje Perine, RB
Mixon picked up an ankle injury in Week 3 that is said to not be serious and he should be a full go in Week 4. Great. What is more concerning to me is his 2.8 YPC and his dwindling usage in the Bengals offense. The talk of the offseason was how the bolstered OL was supposed to open all this space for Mixon to operate, and that just has not been the case. If Mixon comes in and aggravates that ankle in any way, you want to already be holding onto Perine. And even if Mixon stays healthy, Perine’s 4.8+ YPC can’t be ignored by Cincy’s coaches forever. Perine is worth a stash now before he costs you 5x as much in the future.
Week 3 stats: 14.10 (9 att, 47 rush yds, 2 tgts, 2 rec, 14 rec yds, TD)
FAAB Bid: $1 – $4
Craig Reynolds, RB
With Swift going down, this is what you see… additional depth RBs become must adds. Swift is likely to be out 2 weeks minimum, if Jamaal Williams picks up a knock, Reynolds is the next man up. He is likely a tough start in any format, but he is worth stashing if you have the bench space.
Week 3 stats: 2.80 (6 att, 13 rush yds, 1 tgt, 1 rec, 5 rec yds)
FAAB Bid: $1 – $3
DeVante Parker, WR
This pickup is solely if you need to take a shot at WR and are super thin at the position in a deep league. A huge Week 3 for Parker is the first time we’ve seen him and Mac Jones really get on the same page and look comfortable together. However, Mac Jones just horrifically sprained his ankle, and is likely going to miss somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 weeks. That tanks Parker’s value back down to zero with Brian Hoyer (or maybe Cam Newton) taking over the QB duties. He’s worth a stash for a wait and see type of play, but I don’t recommend starting him in Week 4 unless you’re truly desperate.
Week 3 stats: 20.60 (10 tgts, 5 rec, 156 rec yds)
FAAB Bid: $1 – $2
Jared Goff, QB
Let’s keep talking about the Lions, eh? Kinda sorta out of nowhere this season, the Lions have begun to put it all together and they look like a very solid team. Why is that? Goff is putting receivers in positions to succeed, they’re making some nice catches for him, and the running game is solid. Goff isn’t killing the team with awful turnovers or trying to do too much. And this week, with his star RB and likely star WR out, he draws a plus matchup with Seattle. I would look for Goff to take a little more on his plate and have a nice game this week, so if you find yourself in a position of streaming QBs or maybe you’re sick of waiting for Russ Wilson to figure it out, Goff is a nice play and is likely available in your league.
Week 3 stats: 14.88 (277 pass yds, 1 TD, 1 INT, 2 att, 8 rush yds)
FAAB Bid: $1 – $1
