Week 4 – Start and Sits

Every week the TSF crew squares off against each other to see who has the best hit and miss percentage of the week with our positional starts and sits with 1 featured sleeper and dart throw of the week. Read and follow along with your favorite TSF analyst and get some insight on players we like this week and some deep players to keep an eye on for any given week.

Jared Goff – Detroit Lions vs. Seattle Seahawks
We’re yet to see a monster game out of Goff this year, and with the tough Seahawks defense coming up in Week 4, I can understand why he’s only being started in 39% of leagues right now. That being said, we know how much better Goff plays at home, and we know how much better he is when he plays indoors. We’ll be checking off both of those boxes this week, and as such, I am riding with Goff and have a lot of confidence in a Week 4 boom. 20+ points should be a lock.
– Cory
Caleb Williams – Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams
Caleb Williams has had a slow start to his NFL career to say the least. His offensive line is one of the worst in the league and without much time in the pocket, it is hard to get on track. After a tough two weeks, he was able to put up some stats in Week 3and finished with just under 20 fantasy points. The reason I like him this week is because this team will always have to play from behind and catch up. The run game with Swift has not worked, so if the team wants any kind of success, it has to be through the air. The Rams give up the 2nd most fantasy points to QBs, Odunze is starting to settle it, and Keenan Allen looks to be able to play this week, This could be the week we finally see the Caleb we have been waiting for.
– Scott
Rhamondre Stevenson – New England Patriots @ San Francisco 49ers
Stevenson’s start percentage dipped quite a bit after his lackluster performance a week ago, however, I expect to see a bounceback against the Niners defense, who just lost one of their stud interior DL in Javon Hargrave. And while they have plenty of talent to go around on their D-Line, the loss of a space eater like Hargrave will surely be felt. Rhamondre should be looking to atone for his poor Week 3 showing, so expect to see a hungry RB in the NE backfield. The one thing that worries me here is that the game script may eliminate the run game if the Pats are down early, but Stevenson has showcased an ability to haul in catches as well, which leaves me believing he can still post a serviceable stat line in Week 4.
– Cory
Brian Robinson Jr. – Washington Commanders @ Arizona Cardinals
Fantasy wise, Robinson has been fine with the points he is putting up, but most of that is coming from TDs. Besides a strong run game in Week 2, he has been inefficient in the run game. I am not saying that is going to change, but Austin Ekeler has been ruled out this week with a concussion. Ekeler was starting to look more comfortable in the offense and with him out, they should lean on Robinson as a bell-cow RB this week. This game against the Cardinals should be a high scoring game on paper and I want to start the RB who is likely to see around 80% of the snaps.
– Scott
Jauan Jennings – San Francisco 49ers vs. New England Patriots
There are rumors floating about that Deebo may be ready to play this week, but I don’t see the Niners rushing him back to play a poor New England team. Instead, I expect to see Jennings out there, and after the line he posted last week, he should be WAY higher than his current 55% start rate. Assuming Christian Gonzalez matches up with Aiyuk, this should leave Jennings with a much easier matchup, and with plenty of space to operate against a defense in NE that hasn’t shown up since Week 1. I would be full speed ahead if you are the team who picked up Jennings this week via waivers… go use the guy!
– Cory
Diontae Johnson – Carolina Panthers vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Johnson had a horrid start to the 2024 season, but when Dalton took over in Week 3, we finally saw what Johnson and this offense could actually look like (26.20 Full PPR points). They go against the Bengals this week who just let Jayden Daniels and Scary Terry demolish them in Week 3. I am shocked he is only 53% started in fantasy because ti should be much higher. The Johnson for fantasy is the one we saw in Week 3 and with Adam Thielen out, he should be forced even more targets from here on out.
– Scott
Travis Kelce – Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers
This one would typically be called the biggest cop-out of all time, but I am glad to see 95% of people still have faith in Kelce. He also draws a matchup with a very weak Charger defense that should be in line to be exploited in this Week 4 matchup. I expected the start number to be much lower based on what we’ve seen from Kelce this season, but looks like people are keeping the faith! The othe 5% of you should hop back on board immediately.
– Cory
Tyler Conklin – New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos
The TE landscape is off to a rough/strange start this year and many managers are trying to figure out who to start this week, We have injuries and top TEs not putting up any fantasy points for us, so many of us are desperate. Conklin was horrid the first two weeks, but put up great stats in Week 3. He is nothing more than a streaming TE, but this is also a week I am fine starting him. Garrett Wilson will go up against Pat Surtain who has been arguably the best CB in the NFL. With that, we could see a lot more work out of Conklin and he should be a fine TE1 option in Week 4.
– Scott
Rachaad White – Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
While we have seen Rachaad White’s rushing attempts drop week by week this season, more often than not, we have seen him heavily involved in the passing game. And with a tough matchup against an Eagles defense that has started to right the ship of late, the Bucs may be reliant on the passing game and using White out the backfield more than ever. Additionally, Bucky Irving has been nursing a hamstring injury all week in practice, and is heading towards being a true questionable tag on Sunday. If he misses snaps due to a flare up of the injury in game, or if he misses the contest altogether, the primary beneficiary of those vacated touches will surely be Rachaad White. With all that in his favor, I am confidently starting White in any and all formats this week.
– Cory
Rashid Shaheed – New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
Shaheed did nothing last week with 5 targets and no catches. This was odd to see after the Saints played like a Super Bowl team in the first two weeks, but came back down to earth last week.Shaheed is a big play guy and against a Philly team last week, it makes sense for him to not get that going. He comes in to Week 4 with Chris Olive as a true game time decision and even if Olave plays, he could be limited. The Falcons also rank bottom 10 in points per game to perimeter WRs. I am banking on seeing the Shaheed from the first two weeks and I will take Week 3 as an outlier.
– Scott
Anthony Richardson – Indianapolis Colts vs. Pittsburgh Steelers
At only 59% started this week, a lot of you are already in agreement that what we’ve seen so far out of ARich is not enough to keep him in your starting lineups in single QB leagues. And I could not agree more. Pitt also boasts a stout defense, and I am not willing to risk another sub-10pt day by sticking with Richardson again in Week 4. I would rather go out to my leagues waiver wire and pick up a guy like Goff, Fields, Andy Dalton, or even Deshaun Watson… all of whom should be out there in single QB formats. You’ll be happier with them giving you 16-19 points than you will with what Richardson has been posting of late.
– Cory
Derek Carr – New Orleans Saints @ Atlanta Falcons
Carr was viewed as the MVP of the NFL after the first two weeks, but came crashing down to earth in Week 3. I do get that I have Shaheed as a start this week and those points would come through Carr, but I still do not expect to see the numbers from Carr that he put up to start the season. The Falcons have been tough against QBs this season and rank top 10 in most categories against the QB. He should be able to work with Shaheed, but that will not get him enough points to be a QB1 this week.
– Scott
Travis Etienne – Jacksonville Jaguars @ Houston Texans
While you can’t say Etienne has been a bust by any means, he hasn’t had any performances yet this year that really blew your doors off. He’s hovered in the mid 20’s each week for RB point output, and for where you drafted him and what you expected to see out of him, that simply won’t cut it. This sit comes on the heels of a game against Buffalo where the Jags were simply overmatched, and Etienne did a good chunk of his scoring in garbage time when the result was already decided. In a game against Houston this week, I expect Etienne to give his worst output of the year in fantasy, and I think there are better RB options available to you. While it may be hard to sit a guy like Etienne, this is where fantasy winners and losers ar born, making the tough calls at the right time.
– Cory
D’Andre Swift – Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams
If you listened to our last podcast, you will know why Swift is a must sit for me and if you want more clarity, please go listen to our latest podcast. The Bears offensive line has been horrid this season and I was starting to give Swift a pass because of it. That is until I really sat down and watched the film and realized Swift just does not have the mind set to be an early-down back. He is unable to hit the correct holes and makes some bad decisions. We saw Roschon Johnson get more work last week and I believe we will be seeing Johnson take over that backfield fast. If you are still hoping for a Swift bounce back game, think again.
– Scott
Tyreek Hill – Miami Dolphins vs. Tennessee Titans
Really simple on this one… he hasn’t done a damn thing since Tua got hurt. And unless Tua is back or Miami makes a big signing of a FA QB, I am not going to trust Tyreek until I see it on the field. They’re playing the Titans, so if ever there were a team to break out, this would be it, but I am not putting any of my eggs in that basket.
– Cory
Garrett Wilson – New York Jets vs. Denver Broncos
Wilson was able to find the end zone last week, but overall, has not done much of anything to start the season. If you own him and are starting him, I get the frustration. Things do not get easier this week with Wilson going against Pat Surtain and the Broncos. Surtain has been the best CB in the league and we can expect him to blanket Wilson most of the game. The connection with Rodgers and Wilson has been lacking so far and this is not the math to finally get him going.
– Scott
Mark Andrews – Baltimore Ravens vs. Buffalo Bills
While his start percentage may be “nice”, his performances have not been. Not only have we yet to see him involved in the offense anywhere near his past levels, he is coming off a week where he posted a goose egg and couple that with a 33% snap share. Isaiah Likely has not fared much better either, only popping in Week 1 and since being a bit of an afterthought. Andrews, unlike Kelce (who was my TE Start), is not someone you can continue to trot out in your starting lineup until you see some sort of production. A zero would be one thing if he was getting targets and just blanketed, or on the field nearly 100% of the time. However, this is simply not the case and as for now he is unplayable in all fantasy formats.
– Cory
Cole Kmet – Chicago Bears vs. Los Angeles Rams
Met crushed it last week and was a tip 2 TE in fantasy while going for 97 yards on 10 catches and a TD. This was a game where the Bears were down and Caleb finally got it going in a way. I know I say how TE points are hard to come by, so why would I bench a guy who scored over 20 points last week? The reason is because Keenan Allen is back and Kmet should go right back to the fourth passing option on this offense. I have Caleb as a start, but it is more because he should be able to feed those WRs over Kmet. I have been fooled way too many times with Kmet in the past to believe he can do the same thing back-to-back weeks.
– Scott
JK Dobbins – Los Angeles Chargers vs. Kansas City Chiefs
Oddly enough, JK Dobbins comes into Week 4 as the RB13 on the season. Yet only 58% of teams are starting him this week, so maybe they’re seeing the same thing I am. A tough KC defense who has been extremely stout against the run this season, in a matchup that will likely be a lopsided affair and see the Chargers chasing the Chiefs early on. If this is the case, they may be forced to abandon the rushing attack early, and Dobbins could be on the outside looking in. For what it’s worth, I really hope I’m wrong on this one, because seeing Dobbins career rebound in LAC so far has been an absolute pleasure to watch, and I hate rooting against the kid. I just really think this matchup and the flow of the game will play against him this week, making him a wiser sit than start in Week 4.
– Cory
Jaylen Waddle – Miami Dolphins vs. Tennessee Titans
This one should be easier in my mind because Waddle has done close to nothing without Tua under center. He is still startled in over 50% of leagues and that is mainly off of his name. Huntley is getting the start this week, but end of the day, it does not matter who is under center because any WR in this offense is hard to trust. I am shocked they have not brought in an actual NFL starting QB and maybe they thing Tua is back after his IR stint, but until he is back, Waddle should remain on your bench.
– Scott
Greg Dortch – Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Commanders
This might even be a little low for start percentage on a sleeper, but I really think Dortch could have a big game against a Washington defense that lacks depth in their secondary. If the majority of the defenses attention is dedicated to stopping MHJ, Dortch could find some extra space to operate and break free for a big play or two. if you’re in dire straits and looking for a WR to start this week, you could do much worse.
– Cory
Michael Wilson – Arizona Cardinals vs. Washington Commanders
Wilson has seen his snap percentage and targets go up since the first two weeks and saw a total of 9 targets last week while catching 8 of them. Dortch is also a TSF start this week and I do like both to put up around 10 fantasy points as a decent flex play. This game against Washington should be a shoot out since both of their defenses are pretty weak. With more trust in Wilson last week, I am comfortable putting him in my flex position this week.
– Scott
Juju Smith-Schuster – Kansas City Chiefs @ Los Angeles Chargers
Trust me I hate this as much as you do… but if we’re talking about a Dart Throw…. a guy who is purely TD-dependent but has a real legitimate shot at finding paydirt in Week 4, you’d be hard pressed to find a better pick than Juju. He might end up with a line like last week, 2 catches for 17yds and a score, but that’s more than enough to win our Dart Throw contest every week.
– Cory
Jonathan Mingo – Carolina Panthers vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Dart Throws are not guys we are saying to out in your lineup right away, but if you are in desperate need, these guys could help you. Mingo should see his snap share go up with Adam Thielen out for at least four weeks. Dalton played great last week and someone has to step up as the WR2 in this offense begins Deontae Johnson. In paper, this makes sense, but we will see if it comes to fruition.
