DEN -6 vs JAX – 1.25 – 1.5 Units
Denver is coming off a comfortable victory to open the season where their talent was on full display. Teddy Bridgewater may not be the flashiest quarterback, but he was about as efficient as could be hitting open receivers on nearly every snap. Even with the loss of Jerry Jeudy, we expect that to continue against a bad Jacksonville defense who got burned by the Texans week 1. The Jaguars are a team who clearly will be searching for their identity for the first few weeks. And reports are that Meyer may already be losing his locker room. This number should be closer to the -9.5 range. Expect Denver to get up early playing efficient offense and putting the rookie Trever Lawrence to the test with an elite secondary and a pass rush bolstered by Von Miller and possibly the return of Bradley Chubb. Denver should then be able to run out the clock using their 2 great RBs. Denver wins this game by double digits 24-13 and safely covers the spread.
NO/CAR Over 44.5 – 1 Unit
The Saints answered a lot of questions Week 1 about how their offense would fair in the post-Brees era. And the answer, for now, appears like they will be just fine. Even with a thin WR corps (including missing 2 of the their top WRs in Michael Thomas and Tre’Quan Smith), the Saints managed to put up 38 on a Packer defense that was Top 10 in overall defense last season. Winston looked in total control all day and managed 5 TDs on just 20 attempts (do not expect that kind of efficiency to be sustainable). The Panthers came out with a comfortable victory as well. Although the final score shows 19-14, anyone who actually paid attention to the game can tell you it wasn’t that close. Carolina backed way off in the second half after leading 16-0 at halftime. A classic case of garbage time football when a team is ahead by 2 scores. Both these teams prefer to pass the ball all day including numerous check-downs and option routes to their RBs who provide matchup nightmares for linebackers. Don’t sleep on Carolina in this game. Expect this game to have plenty of passing and finish over the total 27-24.
DK Metcalf Anytime TD – 1 Unit
I love DK anytime TD. That titan secondary is horrific. He should eat them alive
