Well the loss of CMC and Dalvin Cook this late in the season is a prime example of why these high end handcuffs need to be owned in most 10 team leagues. If you were a Cook owner you should have had Mattison since day 1 and if you were a CMC owner you should have Chuba since the first IR stint. If you held onto either handcuff and were not the owner of the starter, good for you! If you don’t have shares of either Cook or CMC and Mattison and Chuba aren’t on teams, this is the week to drop the load! Some fantasy owners have the luxury of holding FAAB the entire season and some don’t, but if you were able to hold some FAAB this is the time to make it rain. As a suggestion, look at the other teams budgets to get an indication of the minimum you need to spend. For example, if you have the highest FAAB in your league with $85 and the second highest FAAB budget is $69 (nice), there is no reason to spend anymore than $70. Good luck to all as we have hit the home stretch (or the witching hour as RedZone would like to say).
Alexander Mattison, RB
At first, I forgot to put Mattison in here because I thought he would be owned in a high percentage of leagues. Seeing that he is only owned in 52% of leagues is crazy! All you Cook owners out there, how could you not have handcuffed him with Mattson weeks ago?? I hope you learned your lesson. Mattison enters RB1 status right away with Cook out at least 2 weeks. If you can get him (blow almost all the FAAB), then you are looking great for the next 2 weeks.
Week 12 stats: 9.8 points (7 carries 21 yards 1 TD 2 catches 3 targets 7 yards)
FAAB Bid: ALL OF IT
Chuba Hubbard, RB
Blow everything you have left on this guy! CMC is out for the season and for some reason, CMC owners dropped the handcuff in Carolina when CMC came back. Shocking how low he is owned now, but if you have the FAAB, use it all on him. Sure, he is no CMC, but a guy this late in the season who will get almost all the touches in the backfield is hard to come by. Hubbard is a fantasy winner right now if you can snatch him off the waiver wire.
Week 12 stats: .6 points (2 carries 6 yards 1 target)
FAAB Bid: ALL OF IT
Jamaal Williams, RB
Swift is out at least 1 week, but even if it is only 1 week, Williams should be a priority add. He may only be startable for Week 13, but it has been hard to find an RB to start each week with the opportunities he is going to be given. We saw him have success earlier in the season alongside Swift and now he will have the backfield to himself. A guy who can give you 15 plus touches this week and help you win is worth the price, especially if you are the Swift owner.
Week 12 stats: 10.8 points (15 carries 65 yards 5 catches 5 targets 18 yards)
FAAB Bid: $20 – $33
Boston Scott, RB
This all depends on the health of Miles Sanders and Jordan Howard, but we may not know by the time waivers hit. If they are both out, Scott becomes a great play this week going against the Jets. He got the TD last week as well and with Hurts looking as bad as ever last week, the Eagles should try and run the ball against a bad Jets D. Even if we do not know the news on the other RBs before waivers come, he is still worth a shot. You need to spend the FAAB at some point, right?
Week 12 stats: 12.2 points (15 carries 64 yards 1 TD 2 catches 3 targets 8 yards)
FAAB Bid: $12 – $19
Kendrick Bourne, WR
Bourne has been that player all year that does well one week, but you know you cannot trust him. I think that mindset has changed. The Pats want the ball in his hands, and we have seen what he can do after the catch from last week. With the passing attack stronger each week and Mac looking confident as all hell, Bourne should be on every fantasy team.
Week 12 stats: 20.6 points (5 catches 6 targets 61 yards 2 TDs)
FAAB Bid: $10 – $15
Sony Michel, RB
This one is tough because we likely will not know the status of Henderson before waivers, but if he is forced to miss Week 13, Michel could be a nice add. There are better options this week, but if you do not have the FAAB to get the top guys, Michel is a nice, cheaper option. Hendy has a quad strain, and they will monitor him all week. The reason I think he does not play is that they do play the Jags and they need him healthy for later in the season and playoffs. You can get a close to 15-20 touch player for cheap this week in Michel.
Week 12 stats: 3 points (3 carries 14 yards 1 catch 1 target 11 yards)
FAAB Bid: $2 – $7
