Week 12 Waiver Wire

Week 11 did not bring much to be excited about for the Week 12 waivers. Michael Carter is out for a couple of weeks, we have two QBs that are playing at a pretty high level right now, and a sleeper for the year who has a 3 week TD streak.

Ty Johnson, RB

We finally saw the workload we wanted out of Michael Carter, then he goes down with an injury. He will miss around 2-3 weeks, so someone will have to step up in his absence. Ty Johnson should be the next man up, while Tevin Coleman could factor in as well. I am not overly excited about paying up for a Jets backup RB, but this is the position we are stuck in this week. They play Houston next week, so he could have a big day. If you are a Carter owner, you need to pay up to get Johnson for the next few weeks.

Week 11 stats: 1.8 points (1 carry 5 yards 1 catch 1 target 8 yards)

FAAB Bid: $4 – $15

Carson Wentz, QB

The QBs we have for you are a little higher in ownership percentage than what we usually give you, but for good reason! It’s slim pickings out there, and if you’re dealing with injuries or illnesses (looking at you Lamar), then you may need an option of someone to pick us. Wentz takes on Tampa Bay this week, and this will likely be a matchup where Wentz will not be able to lean on the monster that is Jonathan Taylor, and rather will need to keep the ball in the air in order to compete with Tampa. I would expect to see Wentz throw the ball 30+ times in this one, and I’m hopeful that such volume will lead to production.

Week 11 stats: 10.04 points (106 pass yards 1 TD 2 carries 18 yards)

FAAB Bid: $4 – $7

Cam Newton, QB

Hopefully you listened to Scott last week and started Cam Newton, and hopefully you stashed him on your roster as we advised. If not, now it’s time to pay the piper. In his first full start back, Cam put up 26.16 fantasy points and found the endzone often against Washington. This week he takes on the equally inept Dolphins, and should be in line for another 20 point game.

Week 11 stats: 26.16 points (189 pass yards 2 TDs 10 carries 46 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $2 – $7

Tevin Coleman, RB

Now we must discuss the other Jets RB because we really don’t know how the Jets will use each of them while Carter is out. I would lean Ty Johnson, but Coleman could take on the early down role while Ty Johnson factors into the passing game. I wish I had better options for you, but if you miss out on the top guys this week, Coleman is worth a buck or two to see how the backfield pans out.

Week 11 stats: 2.3 points (5 carries 16 yards 1 catch 1 target 2 yards)

FAAB Bid: $2 – $5

Marquez Callaway, WR

This is only in the event that you really need a WR to play, but Callaway has quietly put up (just about) 10 points in each of the last 3 weeks, even though this past week he was entirely dependent on the one TD. Normally I’d tell you to stay away from the upcoming matchup with the Bills, but after the beatdown they just received from Indy and with a matchup against the Patriots looming, I think it could wind up being a case of looking past an opponent and New Orleans will actually have some success against them in Week 12.

Week 11 stats: 9.1 points (1 catch 4 targets 26 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $1 – $4
