While most find Fantasy Football to be centered around Draft Day and its festivities, the art of the trade is where the men and women are separated from the boys and girls. Few winning trades are now accepted with just the click of the button, you must be knowledgeable about the players involved and find a weakness in your opposition to successfully profit off of a deal. A man’s opinion is grounded and is set in nature, so don’t expect to convince your trade partner to see a player differently than they do. Listen to what your trade partner is saying about their players and see if there is a possible door to unlock. Ladies and gentlemen, this is politics, and sometimes the only way through is painful compromise. You may need to have a shutdown of negotiations for a short period of time and restart another week, but have patience and do not force a trade that had no chance from the start, you don’t want to alienate yourself and burn bridges. Always keep a line open and respect your fellow managers on the surface; friendly banter in Fantasy Football will win you reverence and will keep you in the minds of other managers for future deals.
Let’s get into the Trade Block Big Board! Week to week there are many players on the move, some you know are trade candidates and some you don’t. We’re here to make sure you can capitalize at all times and know who’s on the move and how to get them. There are known strategies for buying players low or selling high, but the harder and more negotiated trades include players with expected value and production. Below are the top 10 players on the block for this week.
#10
Antonio Gibson, RB, Washington Football Team // Overall Rank: 53 // Position Rank: RB 12
Season so far: Antonio Gibson has had a great start to the season, scoring over 8 fantasy points in every week, and scoring in the double digits all but 1 game. He has 4 touchdowns on 89 touches and 432 all-purpose yards on the season. His bye week is Week 9 and he has Philly twice and Dallas once in the Fantasy playoffs.
Why are we selling? Well… we just found out he has a stress fracture in his shin and that is concerning to say the least. There aren’t many healthy RBs out there, but Gibson is still playing and we might want a healthier one to avoid having Gibson on the bench.
Why are we buying? Because Gibson has been hot this year, has no competition at his position, and has a favorable playoff schedule.
#9
Matthew Stafford, QB, Los Angeles Rams // Overall Rank: 9 // Position Rank: QB 8
Season so far: Stafford has thrived in LA, having some of the best weapons of his career. He has thrown for 1,587 yards and 12 touchdowns, with only 3 picks. He does not add rushing value. His bye week is Week 11 and he plays Seattle, Minnesota, and Baltimore in the Fantasy Playoffs.
Why are we selling? Return on investment. You more than likely drafted him low and are selling him high at this point. He was seen with his hand taped up last week and has struggled with accuracy as of late.
Why are we buying? Stafford has not gone under 17 fantasy points at any point this season, he’s safe and will always provide you with a great floor. The Rams are thriving as a team and Stafford is the one to move the ball around.
#8
Cordarrelle Patterson, RB/WR, Atlanta Falcons // Overall Rank: 29 // Position Rank: RB 5
Season so far: The surprise of the year and it isn’t even close, Patterson is RB5 on the year and can also be used in the WR position. He has 5 TDs and 468 all-purpose yards on 66 touches on the season. His bye week is this week, but has a tough slate for the rest of the year facing Carolina twice, New Orleans, and Buffalo championship week.
Why are we selling? Patterson will net you a large package in return or help get a stud. His bye week is now so there’s a chance you need a spot start, and his ROS matchups do not look great.
Why are we buying? Patterson has been on a tear and looks to be one of the focal points of the Atlanta offense, you could also be buying him because teams need a bye week fill in and you may have a 4-1 or 5-0 record.
#7
Joe Mixon, RB, Cincinnati Bengals // Overall Rank: 62 // Position Rank: RB 14
Season so far: So far, so good. Mixon has returned his exact value this season and has not disappointed. He is a high end RB2 and has 417 all-purpose yards with 3 TDs on 101 touches. While the offensive line hasn’t pass blocked well, they have opened up running lanes for Mixon. He has his bye Week 10, and a really good ROS matchup outlook as he plays 5 bottom 10 defenses against the RB position.
Why are we selling? Surprise! Mixon is dealing with an injury, an ankle to be exact, and this has been the trend for Mixon his whole career. I’d be willing to bet 90% of the Mixon owners have been Mixon owners in the past and they have a very short leash with him.
Why are we buying? Mixon is a high RB2 and RBs are at a premium right now, you also may have been a Mixon owner in the past and are having a hard time watching from the sidelines. Mixon is the type of player that has die hard truthers.
#6
Keenan Allen, WR, Las Angeles Chargers // Overall Rank: 69 // Position Rank: WR 28
Season so far: Allen has kind of had a lackluster start to the year, you are hoping for a little more, but you aren’t truly disappointed either. He has only gone below 10 points once, but has also failed to go over 15 points on the season. He has hauled in 34 receptions on 53 targets, gaining 369 yards and 1 TD. His bye is Week 7 and his rest of season strength of schedule is on the above average to difficult side.
Why are we selling? Because he is not getting you many WR1 performances like you had hoped, he still holds value based on his name, and his bye week is a week away, not to mention again his ROS SOS is more on the difficult side.
Why are we buying? Allen still is the WR1 for the Chargers, even though Mike Williams is stepping up big time. Herbert and Allen will connect on more TDs, positive regression suggests so.
#5
Zack Moss, RB, Buffalo Bills // Overall Rank: 89 // Position Rank: RB 20
Season so far: Strange, to say the least, that a guy who was a healthy scratch Week 1 is now showing up to be the starter in Buffalo. He has not gone under 10 points in any game he has played and has 278 all-purpose yards on 54 touches and 4 TDs in 4 games. He has bye Week 7, and has the best matchups you can ask for weeks 8-10 playing 3 bottom 5 defenses against the RB position.
Why are we selling? You might still be weary that he was a healthy scratch Week 1, he is in a committee with Devin Singletary, and he has a bye week next week.
Why are we buying? Because many still are lost on if Moss is the guy, but he has yet to go under 10 points, he has a great few matchups coming up after the bye week, and he is on the best offense in football right now.
#4
Kareem Hunt, RB, Cleveland Browns // Overall Rank: 33 // Position Rank: RB 6
Season so far: Amazing to say the least, Hunt is the RB6 on the season. His season has been especially impressive as he is still in a committee with Nick Chubb. He has 444 all-purpose yards on 72 touches with 5 TDs on the season. His bye week is Week 13 and HE has an up and down/average ROS SOS.
Why are we selling? He is currently injured and not practicing with wrist and knee injuries. He is at the height of his ceiling, and at any moment could drop. He also has a tough next 3 games against Arizona, Denver, and Pittsburgh.
Why are we buying? Well while Hunt hasn’t practiced, Nick Chubb has already been ruled out this week and even with a tough matchup Hunt should thrive as lead back. The Cleveland Browns are a run heavy team and Hunt is sure to get touches as long as he is on the field
#3
Josh Jacobs, RB, Las Vegas Raiders // Overall Rank: 151 // Position Rank: RB 38
Season so far: A little bit of a roller coaster as he is already dealing with injuries, but is producing while on the field. This season, the Raiders brought in Kenyan Drake to spell Jacobs, but it does not appear they are doing that. In the 3 games Jacobs has played, he is averaging a safe floor of 13 fantasy points, scoring as high as 16.5 and as low as 8.2. He has a Week 8 bye and an easier strength of schedule up until his playoff matchups, where it gets tough against Cleveland, Denver, and Indianapolis.
Why are we selling? I’d say the main reason is because Jon Gruden just left and he had a love affair with running the football. The other reasons may include that he is finally healthy enough to trade and he really only provides fantasy points from TDs.
Why are we buying? People are selling him low because of the Jon Gruden news, but the Interim Head Coach Rich Bisaccia has been on Jon Gruden’s staff all the way back to the Tampa Bay days and has a similar philosophy. Jacobs clearly is the lead back and it appears Drake is no threat after the off-season concerns.
#2
A.J. Brown, WR, Tennessee Titans // Overall Rank: 239 // Position Rank: WR 76
Season so far: Scary to say the least, he is a strong bust candidate right now and is battling a lingering hamstring injury. You would expect so much more from last year’s WR11 as he has only had 10 receptions for 130 yards and 1 TD through 4 active weeks. He has bye Week 13 and an easier ROS SOS after this week against Buffalo, including a very attractive playoff schedule against Pittsburgh, San Francisco, and Miami.
Why are we selling? Obviously because he has had a putrid year and you may just want to cut bait right now, even though it is selling low. He is battling his hamstring injury and that may cause lingering issues all season
Why are we buying? Because A.J. Brown is an Alpha WR in the NFL and is starting to come back from his hamstring injury. He is being bought at an all-time low and has a great ROS schedule and an even better playoff schedule. Personally, I’m a buyer not a seller on A.J Brown.
#1
Stefon Diggs, WR, Minnesota Vikings // Overall Rank: 79 // Position Rank: WR 26
Season so far: While Stefon Diggs isn’t losing you weeks, he is not returning the points from the capital you spent on him in the draft, so it definitely makes sense why he is the #1 player on the Fantasy Football Trade Block. He has only hauled in 28 receptions on 47 targets with 374 yards and 1 TD, which is highly disappointing. He has bye Week 7 and an up and down ROS SOS, but notably plays tough Week 15 and 16 matchups against Carolina and NE respectfully.
Why are we selling? Number 1 reason is that his season is not going well, but his name still carries enormous weight and you can get something good for him. Number 2, the emergence of Emmanuel Sanders and how he has been a thorn in Diggs’ side the last 3 weeks.
Why are we buying? It’s Stefon Diggs (again with the name carrying weight) he is still an Alpha in the NFL and his connection with Josh Allen in the past has everyone hoping for a positive regression to the mean. The Bills are the best offense in football and Diggs is the clear number one on the team, if you ask me, we are buying because right now Stefon Diggs can simply be bought and this might be the only time that comes to fruition this year.
