Same Faces, New Places

The 2020 season has come and gone. Now is the time to get ready for player movement across the NFL. Last year we saw some big names like Tom Brady, DeAndre Hopkins, & Stefon Diggs change teams. Will this year be just as good? Keep up to date with us as we will update this article each day and keep you informed on which players have switched teams. Let the offseason begin!

James Conner, RB

After finding no interest in the open market for the majority of free agency, Conner was able to pass a physical and sign with the Cardinals. This was one of the best spots for him to land for a fantasy aspect as they really only had Chase Edmonds as the ‘lead back’ there. I think the signing helps both players. We know that Chase did not appear to be able to carry a full workload, so he can remain as that change of pace back in a high-powered offense, while Conner will be the early down/goal line back. It all comes down to if Conner can stay healthy, but at this point, you should be excited if you are a Conner owner in dynasty leagues.

Old Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

New Team: Arizona Cardinals

Contract: 1 Year, $1.25 Million

Giovani Bernard, RB

After the release from the Bengals last week, Gio quickly found a new home and is heading south to Tampa Bay. If you thought owning RBs from this team was frustrating last year, think again. With the return of Fournette, Ronald Jones still being under contract, and the massive ‘hype’ Ke’Shawn Vaughn was getting from Arians, it was a surprise the Bucs added another RB to the mix. All reports say that Brady and Arains both wants Gio here and for a QB, Gio is a great fit. This is a guy who has been a hell of a pass blocker and one of the most reliable pass catching RBs in the last several seasons. We saw Brady’s face in disgust last year when Jones and Fournette would drop easy balls, so now Brady has a legit 3rd down back to pass to. At this point, this is a RB situation to stay away from.

Old Team: Cincinnati Bengals

New Team: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Contract: 1 Year, $1.2 Million

Sam Darnold, QB

Sam Darnold has been traded to the Carolina Panthers! In return, the Jets will receive a 2021 6th round pick and a 2022 second & fourth round pick. After several months of talks and rumors, Darnold is finally out of New York. We know that this means the Jets will be taking a QB with their 2nd overall pick this season, but for the Panthers, we could see a camp battle to see how the starter is; Darnold or Bridgewater. Although Teddy did a decent job with making multiple players on his team fantasy relevant, he was not a great QB in 2020 outside of fantasy. It is still early, but if i had to guess right now, I would say Sam Darnold will be the starter in Week 1 with what the Panthers gave up to get him. The young, high prospect QB from a few years ago will be able to prove himself. He is now officially out of the cloud of Adam Gase and the Jets.

New Team: Carolina Panthers

Contract: 2 Years, $19.7 Million

Kalen Basllage, RB

We joke about Kalen Ballage often and mainly because his horrific 2019 season, but the man has found himself in a new home. He signed a one-year deal with the Steelers and at this point it is Anthony McFarland & Benny Snell there. Both players did not show much last season and right now, it could be anyone’s job to win or lose. We will see if Ballage is able to make the team, but luckily for him, there will be an offseason in 2021 to prove his worth. Go get him Kalen!

Old Team: Los Angeles Chargers

New Team: Pittsburgh Steelers

Contract: 1 Year, $920K

Sammy Watkins, WR

Week 1 Sammy has found a new home and is joining the Ravens on a one-year deal. The Ravens were in on all the top WRs this offseason, but they all ended up taking less money to not go there. Th Ravens are not a pass-friendly team by any means and players see that. With so many WRs already gone, they were finally able to get at least something in Watkins. Watkins is a big hit or miss player and, in most cases,, he is a miss. He is a great addition to the Ravens as he has plenty of experience and it gives them another weapon opposite of Hollywood Brown. If you want to win Week 1, I would draft Sammy int he last round as that is his week to always shine. Then drop him right after that.

Old Team: Kansas City Chiefs

New Team: Baltimore Ravens

Contract: 1 Year, $6 Million

Matt Breida, RB

After being a big bust last season in Miami alongside Jordan Howard, Breida was able to come to terms on a one-year with the Bills. He will stay in division as he will look to carve out a role in Buffalo. The Bills already have Singletary and Moss, but both do not look to be able to carry that feature load the Bills are looking for. Breida is not that kind of player either, so this signing could be a headache for fantasy and all RBs on the team. If Breida can carve out a role, I want to stay away from all RBs on the Bills in 2021.

New Team: Buffalo Bills

Contract: 1 Year, $1 Million

Willie Snead, WR

Willie Snead will be joining the Raiders after playing for the Ravens the last three seasons. After signing John Brown, the Raiders end up bringing in another vet in Snead who could help mentor players like Ruggs and Edwards. Snead is usually not fantasy worthy and still may not be for the Raiders, but he always has those few games a year he puts up numbers. Who knows, maybe going to more of a pass-friendly team might help him out.

New Team: Las Vegas Raiders

Contract: 1 Year, $1.1 Million

Adam Humphries, WR

The Titans end up losing another receiving weapon this offseason and Humphries has packed his bags and is heading to Washington for 2021. Washington has made some great moves already with bringing in Ryan Fitzpatrick & Curtis Samuel. With the addition of Humphries, he could take that role that Trey Quin never was able to take due to multiple injuries. He will not be fantasy relevant by any means, but just a nice addition to add for Fitzpatrick and the Football Team.

Old Team: Tennessee Titans

New Team: Washington Football Team

Contract: 1 Year, $1.2 Million

Joe Flacco, QB

Joe Flacco is signing a one-year deal with the Eagles. At this point, Flacco has a pretty good job and just hops on to a different team each year to collect a couple million dollars. Mothers, tell your kids to become backup QBs when they grow up. We would expect him to be backup to Hurts, but Flacco has come out and said he is not going to mentor Hurts and will try and win the starting job. He has done this wherever he has gone the last couple seasons and even with the Ravens and Lamar. He is not a veteran guy that wants to teach the young guys something, which is interesting to see him still able to find himself on a team.

Old Team: New York Jets

New Team: Philadelphia Eagles

Contract: 1 Year, $3.5 Million

Tevin Coleman, RB

With San Fran already having a crowded backfield, they were not willing to keep Coleman. Coleman was able to sign with his old coach in Robert Saleh and will now suit up for the Jets in 2021. Coleman was almost a forgotten soul in the fantasy community but signing with the Jets may have been his best case. There is little to no completion (Ty Johnson & La’Mical Perine) in New York, so Coleman could already be the best back off the bat there. There is still a high chance the team draft a rookie RB, but even so, Coleman should still have a role as long as he can stay healthy. Dynasty owners should be happy as of now.

Old Team: San Francisco 49ers

New Team: New York Jets

Contract: 1 Year, $2 Million

Damien Williams, RB

After opting out in 2020 and the fact that Darrell Williams was able to take over the 3rd down role, the Chiefs were willing to part ways with Williams. The 2019 Super Bowl star was able to link up with the Bears on a one-year deal. For fantasy, it is not a great fit as he will be behind David Montgomery and Tarik Cohen. It is great he was able to find a home, but for fantasy, it does not do much for him as of right now. If you are a David Montgomery owner in dynasty, you should pick him up or sell a late 3rd/4th round pick for the handcuff, but that is all Williams will be for now.

Old Team: Kansas City Chiefs

New Team: Chicago Bears

Contract: 1 Year, $1.5 Million

Mike Davis, RB

The steal of 2020 has found a new home in Atlanta. This is by far the best landing spot for Davis as the Falcons really do not have a legit RB on the roster. Of course, they can add a rookie in the draft, but for now, he is the clear-cut RB1 on a team who should focus on the running game in 2021. The head coach of Arthur Smith has done magic when he was with Tennessee for Derrick Henry, so he should bring that same mind set to Atlanta. Those of you who were able to grab him in dynasty last season, you should be ecstatic right now.

Old Team: Carolina Panthers

New Team: Atlanta Falcons

Contract: 2 Years, $5.5 Million

Breshad Perriman, WR

The former first round pick will now join his fifth NFL team after coming to terms with the Lions. Although Perriman was not one of the top free agent WRs out there, this is a great landing spot for him. The Lions no longer have Kenny Golladay or Marvin Jones and with the small addition of Tyrell Williams, Perriman should be able to carve out a decent role off the bat. The Lions may and most likely should draft a rookie WR, but as of right now, Perriman is either the 1 or 2 WR on the team. There could have been worse landing spots for sure.

Old Team: New York Jets

New Team: Detroit Lions

Contract: 1 Year, $3 Million

Josh Reynolds, WR

Reynolds will leave the Rams and ink a one-year deal with the Titans. This is a great spot for the WR as the Titans have let Corey Davis & Jonuu Smith walk in free agency. He will compete for the number 2 WR role behind AJ Brown, but I would think he would be able to secure that easily as there is not much talent behind him. Of course, the Titans could draft a rookie, but as of right now, it is a fantastic fit for both Reynolds & the Titans.

Old Team: Los Angeles Rams

New Team: Tennessee Titans

Contract: 1 Year, $1.75 Million

DeSean Jackson, WR

D-Jax has signed a one-year deal with the Rams. He will reunite with Sean McVay once again and this just give Matthew Stafford another weapon to throw to. Although Jackson is not what he once was, we have seen him be able to go deep and make that big play. The concern that remains with Jackson is his inability to stay healthy. He will be behind Cooper Kupp & Robert Woods, so his fantasy value is not as high off the bat. He is the perfect player to take in the last round of drafts because he will at least play Week1 before getting injured.

Old Team: Philadelphia Eagles

New Team: Los Angeles Rams

Contract: 1 Year, $4.5 Million

Kenny Golladay, WR

The biggest name in free agency has finally signed and stopped driving all of us crazy! He inked a four-year deal with the Giants and the man got paid! With Godwin and A Rob being tagged int he offseason, Golladay went into free agency as the clear-cut top free agent and the money he is getting paid shows that. This helps the Giants as a whole as well as Kenny G. He will now be the top WR on his team and should demand a bunch of targets in 2021. With a healthy Barkley coming back and the addition of Golladay, this team could be exciting to watch. Good job getting paid sir!

Old Team: Detroit Lions

New Team: New York Giants

Contract: 4 Years, $72 Million

Phillip Lindsay, RB

After Denver decided to move on from Lindsay, he was signed for a one-year deal by the Texans. Not a horrible place to sign for fantasy as he will have to just compete with Mark Ingram to secure the backup role to David Johnson. The Texans do not look to be a team to compete by any means, but Lindsay could help take some pass catching duties that belonged to Duke Johnson in past years. Hang tight with him in dynasty to see how he does in camp.

Old Team: Denvers Broncos

New Team: Houston Texans

Contract: 1 Year, $3.5 Million

Dan Arnold, TE

Dan Arnold will join the Panthers on a two-year deal. Not a bad TE by any means and he had a few fantasy relevant games last year for Arizona, but he should be pretty far down in the depth chart for pass catchers. DJ Moore, Robby Anderson, newly acquired David Moore, & of course CMC will demand most of the targets on the team, leaving Arnold scraping for them. Not a fantasy option of the bat in 2021.

Old Team: Arizona Cardinals

New Team: Carolina Panthers

Contract: 2 Years, $6 Million

Keelan Cole, WR

Keenan Cole has finally moved on from Jacksonville and has signed a 1-year deal with the Jets. After signing Corey Davis a few days ago, the Jets were not done adding talent to their WR group. Cole was on several team’s radar this offseason and is viewed as one of the most underrated WRs in the league. With Cole now in New York with Corey Davis and Denzel Mims, Jamison Crowder could be a player who is let go as the team would save a good amount of cap space by doing so.

Old Team: Jacksonville Jaguars

New Team: New York Jets

Contract: 1 Year, $5.5 Million

Kenyan Drake, RB

Signing a 2-year deal with the Raiders worth up to $14.5 mil with $11 mil in guaranteed money, Drake figures to play backup to Josh Jacobs. Coach John Gruden referred to Drake as a “jack of all trades”, which hints towards a significant role in the passing game and he will likely be used as the Raiders primary third down back. In 2019, Drake saw a combined 68 targets between ARI and MIA but failed to do anything exceptional in 15 games with the Cardinals in the passing game in 2020. What Drake did do in 2020 was run the ball at 4 yards a clip, just missed 1,000 rushing yards and scored 10 TDs. On 50 more carries Josh Jacobs produced a similar line. For fantasy we can give the edge to Jacobs, but it’s a big hit to both players. This likely moves Jacobs down in the RB standings and could end up being a hot hand situation and a massive headache in 2021.

New Team: Las Vegas Raiders

Contract: 2 Years, $14.5 Million

Will Fuller, WR

One of the premier free agent WRs finds a new home in Miami, signing a 1-year deal. Fuller still has one game left to serve on his 6 game suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy, however he provides a massive upgrade from Preston Williams and should factor in as the first option for Tua once he makes his way onto the field. While we all know Fuller’s talent is top tier, but his injury history leaves a lot to be desired. Now that he has put pen to paper and signed on a squad Fuller looks to make a major impact in 2021.

Old Team: Houston Texans

New Team: Miami Dolphins

Contract: 1 Year, $10 Million

Jared Cook, TE

The 33-year-old veteran lands in Los Angeles on a 1-year deal after the Chargers lose Hunter Henry to the Patriots. This is a good signing for the team to give Justin Herbert a veteran TE who can excel at the position. Cook scored 16 TDs for the Saints in 2 years and has the same upside in the Chargers offense. Cook is a dark horse at the position in 2021 where he will likely still rank inside the top 12 TEs.

New Team: Los Angeles Chargers

Contract: 1 Year, $6 Million

Kyle Rudolph, TE

Kyle Rudolph lands with the New York Giants on a 2-year deal and adds some veteran experience at the TE position. Rudolph seems to have been brought in as a blocking TE so the Giants can use Evan Engram in a more versatile way. I don’t see Rudolph contributing in fantasy unless Engram gets hurt. Engram, in 16 games last year, had 654 yards with 1 TD, the volume just isn’t there to support 2 TEs. This does, however, bode well for Saquon Barkley who may have some extra running room with a solid blocking TE at the line of scrimmage.

New Team: New York Giants

Contract: 2 Years, $16 Million

Mitch Trubisky, QB

The former 2nd overall pick from 2017 is set to back up 2020 standout Josh Allen as Buffalo gives Mitch a chance to restart. It’s not a bad deal for the Bills, Allen plays in an aggressive manner at the QB position and having a decent QB with NFL experience to fill in if he gets hurt is the mindset most championship teams have. Mitch is off the redraft radar for 2021 and is likely only a desperation dynasty buy. Mitch does provide some support to Diggs if Allen does go down, but Mitch can be shelved until his 1-year contract expires in 2022.

New Team: Buffalo Bills

Contract: 1 Year, $2.5 Million

Mike Glennon, QB

Mike Glennon continues to have one of the best jobs in the NFL; backup QB. He heads to the Giants to become the backup to Daniel Jones in 2021. Not a bad move for them as we have seen Glennon be able to get it done here and there throughout the years, but overall, this is a good sign for Daniel Jones. With talks of the Giants wanting to add competition for Jones this offseason, the signing of Glennon secured Jones’ starting job.

Old Team: Jacksonville Jaguars

New Team: New York Giants

Contract: 1 Year, $1 Million

David Moore, WR

With the departure of Curtis Samuel, the Panthers filled that void by bringing in David Moore from Seattle. Always a player who was hyped up for years in Seattle but was always deep in the depth chart for the team. This is a great signing for the Panthers and although Moore may not be fantasy relevant right away, this helps Teddy Bridgewater to have another weapon. Fantasy owners are going to be crazy whenever D. Moore makes a big play or gets a TD in 2021 because they will not know if it is DJ or David. Let the headaches begin.

Old Team: Seattles Seahawks

New Team: Carolina Panthers

Contract: 2 Years, $4.75 Million

Curtis Samuel, WR

Samuel is rejoining his old coach in Washington and will now be paired with Scary Terry and Ryan Fitzmagic throwing him the ball. For a player TSF is high on, this was a fantastic landing spot for the WR. Terry McLaurin should remain the WR1 in Washington, but Samuel should be heavily involved in the offense. At the end of the day, as long as Fitzpatrick is under center, he makes multiple receivers relevant. This should be a fun team to watch next season.

New Team: Washington Football Team

Contract: 3 Years, $34.5 Million

Gerald Everett, TE

One of the most underrated TEs in the NFL has signed with Seahawks. This is a great fit for a team who just had Greg Olsen retire and not many other options behind him. We have not seen a TE succeed with the Seahawks in a long time and I do not think he is a fantasy TE1 by any means, but he should sneak in to the TE2 range and a guy who can fill in for your fantasy during bye weeks or injuries. Let us all just hope Wilson is still the QB when the 2021 season starts.

New Team: Seattle Seahawks

Contract: 1 Years, $7 Million

Mie Boone, RB

The number 3 back for the Vikings the last 2 seasons is heading to Denver on a 2-year deal. This is some nice insurance if Lindsay decides to test the market and sign elsewhere. We will see if he is able to beat out Royce Freeman for the number 2 role, but for right now, he has little fantasy value.

Old Team: Minnesota Vikings

New Team: Denver Broncos

Contract: 2 Years, $3.8 Million

A.J. Green, WR

fter having a down year in 2020, Green will try to bounce back after joining the Cardinals on a one-year deal. He may not be what he once was, but this helps Kyler and the entire offense in a huge way. We did see flashes last year until Burrow went down for the season, so with an entire offseason with a new QB, he could be a nice candidate for a bounce back player of the year award.

New Team: Arizona Cardinals

Contract: 1 Year, $8.5 Million

John Brown, WR

After being released by the Bills about a week ago, Brown has latched on with the Raiders. Exactly what the team needs, another speedy WR to run deep routes. All joking aside, it is a good addition as they just lost Tyrell and Agholor. He should fill one of those roles well, but do not be surprised if the team brings in another big name WR in free agency.

New Team: Los Vegas Raiders

Contract: 1 Year, $3.75 Million

Jamaal Williams, RB

Williams signed quick in free agency and is now joining the Lions and should sneak right in as the backup to Swift. We were hoping he would go to a team where he could push to become a starter like the Falcons, Dolphins, or Seahawks, but he will spend the next 2 seasons carving out a role in Detroit. The contract is much lower than what we thought he would be worth on the open market as he has shown plenty of flashes in GB to be a legit starter in the NFL. We will see how it plays out, but he should be ahead of Kerryon Johnson and becomes a top tier handcuff once again in fantasy on a team who wants to run the ball more.

Old Team: Green Bay Packers

New Team: Detroit Lions

Contract: 2 Years, $7.5 Million

Jacoby Brissett, QB

Jacoby is heading down to Miami after spending some time with Indy the last few years. He will remain a backup QB for the team, but with Tua already being an injury prone QB, Brissett could be able to get some time in during the season. We saw him on 4th downs and goal line runs last year and maybe he can do some more of that for the team to protect Tua. Overall, he is not fantasy relevant unless Tua goes down.

Old Team: Indianapolis Colts

New Team: Miami Dolphins

Contract: 1 Year, $7.5 Million

John Ross, WR

John Ross has agreed to a one year deal for 2.5M with the New York Giants. Not sure where he will fit in with Shepard and Slayton, but if he can become the speedy slot guy who occasionally stretches the field for the G-Men, this could be a sneaky good signing. He hasn’t shown an ability to stay healthy yet this year, and his speed seems to be the key factor in why he can’t stay on the field, which is quite the double edged sword. But here’s hoping he puts together a solid campaign and Daniel Jones can get in sync with him quickly. I would be hesitant to draft him in anything but the deepest dynasty leagues at the moment though.

Andy Dalton, QB

The Bears have moved on from Mitch Trubisky, but the signing of Dalton was not what Bears fans and Allen Robinson wanted for an ‘upgrade’. We have seen Dalton be a fine QB in the NFL, but I would not guess he is a top 32 QB in the league and the Bears could have done better. It is still early and of course, they can end up bringing someone else in to compete (hope they do), but as of right now, Allen Robinson cannot be a happy man.

Old Team: Dallas Cowboys

New Team: Chicago Bears

Contract: 1 Year, $10 Million

Malcolm Brown, RB

The Rams did not need to bring back Brown and he has decided to sign with the Dolphins. Not a bad spot for a guy who is likely looking to prove that he is worth to be on the field on a regular basis. The only problem is that Miami could still add a RB in free agency or the draft, so I am not sure how secure this spot will be for Brown. After being faded out in the backfield to end 2020, Brown is moving on.

Contract: 1 Year, $1.75 Million

Tyrod Taylor, QB

Tyrod is heading to Houston on a one-year deal. He makes a fantastic backup for Watson and is making a pretty penny to do so. We will be hearing rumors all summer about if the Texans will now deal Watson since they have Tyrod. I do think them bringing in Tyrod is a smart move in case something does happen with Watson and he hold out or ends up getting a trade done. Good insurance.

New Team: Houston Texans

Contract: 1 Year, $12.5 Milliom

Emmanuel Sanders, WR

After being one of the many cap causalities for the Saints last week, Sanders was able to find a home just 2 days into free agency. He latches on with the Bills and Josh Allen is now given another weapon for him to use in 2021. Adding a vet like Sanders is fantastic for a team who is already looking like a strong contender in the AFC. For fantasy, I am not sure this was the best spot for him, and he really has not been a guy who you could trust for the last few seasons. He will be behind Diggs and Beasley, but Gabrielle Davis could even make a strong push for that third WR role. Sanders will only help the young players and the team grow, but his fantasy stock goes down after this move.

Old Team: New Orleans Saints

New Team: Buffalo Bills

Contract: 1 Year, $6 Million

Marvin Jones, WR

For a guy who has said he wanted to leave Detroit and go play for a contender, I did not think the Jags would have been a team he would choose. For an NFL team who has several young players, Jones brings that veteran spark to the team and he should be able to help this young WR core. His fantasy value goes down in my mind as I believe DJ Chark will remain the focal point of the passing game and Shenault taking a step up. He will still be worth a late round pick and he has proven us wrong the last few seasons, so I would not be surprised if he is more of a security blanket for Trevor Lawrence in his rookie season. Jags should not be done with making moves this offseason, so pay attention.

New Team: Jacksonville Jaguars

Contract: 2 Years, $14.5 Million

Hunter Henry, TE

The Patriots will not stop signing TEs in Free Agency! Henry joins the Pats on Day 2 of NFL FA and joins fellow signee Jonnu Smith in what is now one of the most formidable TE combos in the league. For Pats fans, this should remind you of the Gronkowski/Hernandez days, and that is a great thing (from a football perspective. TSF does not condone the murdering Hernandez is accused of/definitely did). If Jonnu and Henry can be anything close to that productive the deals they signed will be steals. Henry is grabbing 3 years and 37.5M, well worth what he can bring to an offense with his combination of athleticism and blocking ability.

New Team: New England Patriots

Contract: 3 Years, $37.5 Million

Ryan Fitzpatrick, QB

Oh, Oh, Oh, Fitzmagic!! Got to love seeing the old timer get a deal done the first day of free agency. He will head to Washington on a 1 year deal, and at this point, he looks to be the starter for them. This is a boost to the entire offense and especially Scary Terry. This should help Logan Thomas stay as a TE1 and even if they do not bring in another WR, one of either Cam or Steve Sims should be able to step up and have some value as well. We get at least one more season to watch this living legend, enjoy it!

Old Team: Miami Dolphins

New Team: Washington Football Team

Contract: 1 Year, $12 Million

Corey Davis, WR

Back up the Brinks truck!!! Davis went out and got PAID by the Jets (3 years 37.5M with 27M guaranteed), which is fairly on brand for the organization. But I admit I love this move for them, whether it ends up being Sam Darnold, Russ Wilson, or some rookie QB under center, Davis is a big, physical, and talented WR who should be able to help quite a bit. He should look to continue to build off of the success of 2020, but much of that will hinge on the moves the Jets are yet to make. They need to shore up that WR room, find a legit RB, fix their OL issues… the list goes on. But this is a great first step and Davis should carry legitimate fantasy value, as for the moment, it’s only him and Denzel Mims that would feature as outside receiving threats.

Kendrick Bourne, WR

New Team: New England Patriots

Contract: 3 Years, $22.5 Million

Nelson Agholor, WR

Nelson Agholor is headed to Foxboro! The Patriots struck on Day 1 of the legal tampering period of NFL Free Agency to secure Agholor’s services in an attempt to address their deficiencies of 2020 at the WR position. At a 2yr/26M hit (11M base salary with 2M in incentives per year and no guaranteed money), the Pats are making a cautious investment in Agholor, but have certainly shown they believe in his talent. Agholor will join a WR room of Julian Edelman, N’Keal Harry, Jakobi Meyers, Gunner Olszewski, and the also-newly-added Kendrick Bourne. Agholor had arguably his best season yet in 2020, and will look to get on the same page with Cam Newton early and often as the top outside WR threat on the team.

New Team: New England Patriots

Contract: 2 Years, $26 Million

Devontae Booker, RB

Booker has signed with the Giants on a 2-year deal. After doing a fine job in Las Vegas being Josh Jacobs last year, he will serve as the backup to Barkley. You would think they would bring in a more solidified backup seeing that Barkley has been injury prone in his young career, but it should be a step up to what they have had in the past.

New Team: New York Giants

Contract: 2 Years, $6 Million

Carlos Hyde, RB

Carlos Hyde was able to find a home quickly and heads back to Jacksonville. A great signing for the team, as they add a veteran for James Robinson to learn from. Hyde is also one of the best backup RBs in the NFL, so if Robinson ever misses time, they should always be in good hands. His value will be similar to last year, where he can be looked at as a top tier handcuff at the RB position.

New Team: Jacksonville Jaguars

Contract: 2 Years, $4.5 Million

Jonnu Smith, TE

Old Team: Tennessee Titans

New Team: New England Patriots

Contract: 4 Years, $50 Million

Josh Hill, TE

Josh Hill was one of many Saints players who was let go last week with the team trying to get back to the salary cap. Fortunately for Hill, he was signed right away by the Detroit Lions. This move just makes sense as Dan Campbell has worked with Josh Hill in New Orleans for many seasons. For fantasy, he still does not have value, but it is a great backup/blocking TE for the Lion after they just let go of Jesse James.

Contract: 1 Year, $1.2 Million

Mark Ingram, RB

Mark Ingram has reached a 1-year deal with the Texans. Not the greatest team to choose to sign with as they seem to be rebuilding, but for a fantasy perspective, it may be his best option. With the Texans cutting Duke Johnson, Mark Ingram now falls right into that backup role or 1B to David Johnson. With David Johnson being one of the more injury prone RBs in the NFL, Ingram becomes a top handcuff that should pay off if DJ does miss some time. Good to see the vet get a contract right away in free agency.

Old Team: Baltimore Ravens

New Team: Houston Texans

Contract: 1 Year, $3 Million

Tyrell Wiliams, WR

After an injury plagued 2019 and being out the entire 2020 season, the Raiders ended up cutting Williams. It makes sense with the young guys they have there and the free agent market where they can land a talented WR and not keep paying Williams. He found a new home very quick in Detroit. At this point, it is tough to say what his role will be, but as of right now, Marvin Jones, Kenny Golladay, and Danny Amendola are most likely not coming back, so this makes him a starter. Now this could change of course, or he may even be cut before the season start, but for now, he is a Lion.

Old Team: Las Vegas Raiders

New Team: Detroit Lions

Contract: 1 Year, $3 Million

Carson Wentz, QB

Carson Wentz has been traded to the Indianapolis Colts, which gives an immediate boost to all their pass catchers, and honestly to their running game as well. This is the ideal landing spot for Wentz, as he reunites with his former coach Frank Reich, with whom he saw great success in Philly in years past. The Colts should now shift their focus to retaining TY Hilton, coaching up Pittman and Campbell, and there are still rumors that Ertz could be on his way to Indy as well. All of this bodes very well for the future of the Colts franchise, and they did not have to give up too much to land him. Indy is eating a massive contract, but that’s par for the course if Wentz can return to the franchise QB we once thought he was.

Old Team: Philadelphia Eagles

New Team: Indianapolis Colts

Contract: 4 Years, $78.4Million

Matthew Stafford, QB

With the first big move this offseason, The Lions have dealt Stafford to the Rams for Jared Goff, 2 first round picks, and a third-round pick. Quite the haul for Stafford, but that is what the Rams had to give up to be able to get rid of that Goff contract. The Rams should be a better team with Stafford under center, but will he be able to take them to the Super Bowl in 2021? That will be a hard task to ask, but Stafford should remain a top 15 QB in fantasy with the Rams.

Old Team: Detroit Lions

New Team: Los Angeles Rams

Contract: 2 Years, $22 Million

Jared Goff, QB

The Rams were willing to part ways with Goff and did so by unloading him, 2 firsts, and a third to Detroit for Matthew Stafford. We know Stafford is a better QB than Goff and the Rams are still in win-now mode, so the deal makes sense. The Lions made out as well, acquiring those picks and Goff who is still a very serviceable NFL QB. With Anthony Lynn in Detroit now, he could make Goff a better game manager while limiting his turnovers. With Marvin Jones and Golladay likely on their way out of Detroit, it all depends who will be there for him to throw to other than Hockenson.

Old Team: Los Angeles Rams

New Team: Detroit Lions
