We thought Keenan Allen being traded was the biggest move this offseason, but we were wrong. We knew of the drama with Diggs and the Bills, but we did not think him leaving was an actual thing. The Bills are cleaning house with being in cap hell and Diggs was the next part of it. At first glance, I would say this is a downtick for Diggs as he goes to an offense with already two great WRs in Nico Collins and Tank Dell. But we did see the second half of last season with Diggs barely being used and most of those weeks, you could not even start him. After the second half of last season, but really could not get worse for DIggs and if you are a Stroud owner, you have to be feeling really good right now.

This was one of the most shocking things that happened this offseason. We knew the Chargers needed to get rid of one of their WRs, but we did not know that both Allen and Mike Williams would be on the move. This is a massive move for the Bears and they are doing everything they can to help build a great offense for Caleb Williams. With DJ Moore and Keenan Allen on the same team, this team becomes one of the most dangerous offenses right away. Fantasy mangers are scared that both Moore and Allen will not be able to be top 20 WRs together, but if Caleb is as good as we all think he will be, that really should not be an issue.

Gabe Davis came out and said he was one of the best free agent WRs and with the contract, apparently he was. This signing makes more sense now because we did see what Ridley went for and the Jags were not willing to spend that much on Ridley. TSF is not a fan of Gabe Davis because he really has been a one trick pony in his short career. He will have several games of doing nothing, then one monster game while he is on your bench. He has put a sour taste in fantasy owner’s mouths for so many years and I am not sure this signing makes us feel much better about it. They still have Kirk and Engram who I feel will be the top two targets on this team, so we may be in for same production for Davis.

In the last two years, the Patriots have been linked to DeAndre Hopkins and Calvin Ridley and each year, the Titans come in and overpays for these guys to have them. Ridley was hot and cold last year, but when he was on, he looked like one of the best WRs in the NFL. It is risky for the Titans to pay a guy this age that much for four years, but this is the NFL and we know that these teams know they need two legit WRs in their room. The biggest concern here is the Will Levis and if he can support both Hopkins and Ridley which we all think is going to be hard. The team is doing everything in their power to help the young QB, now he just had to execute.

Hollywood Brown lands in one the of the best spots in the NFL with the Chiefs. When we did a podcast months ago, we did say how this would be a good fit and that it would not cost the Chiefs a lot, which it did not. I am not sure how he did not get a better offer from other teams, but this is a massive win the Kansas City. Hollywood is viewed through fantasy as a bust more or less, but we need to remember what he has done with Baltimore and Arizona when he was healthy. I get his health is a big concern in his career, but he now lands in a spot where he does not have to be forced in to being the tip guy with Rice there. Now, if Rice is suspended in any way in 2024, Hollywood’s stock goes even higher.

We knew Mike Williams was likely gone from the Chargers after last season because of their cap situation, but it ended up being more than just him which we will get to. He lands in a great spot with the Jets and Aaron Rodgers. We know the talent is there with Williams, but his biggest flaw his entire career has been his health. This guy plays hard and goes over the top as a WR, but that comes with many injuries and he really ahs not been able to be counted on for the majority of his career. Regardless, he lands with the Jets and should be the WR2 behind Wilson. If Aaron Rodgers stays healthy this year, Williams should have value in 2024, especially around the goal line where he does most of his work.

Curtis Samuel signs a three year deal with the Bills and when it first happened, it looked good with the departure of Gabe Davis, but now his stock goes even higher after the team traded away Stefon Diggs. We all know that the Bills will draft a WR in the rookie draft this year, but regardless, if Samuel is the WR2 to start the season, it is still a win. He finally lands on a solid NFL team with one of the best QBs in the NFL, so work and production will be there. As long as he stays healthy, he should be fantasy relevant and I am sure he will be a sleeper for many fantasy websites out there.

Zach Moss did a fine job with Indy when Jonathan Taylor was out last season and that showed enough for the Bengals to not just sign him, but cut Joe Mixon right after. It is a team friendly deal for a guy that has shown us he can take the bulk of the work out of the backfield, which is rare in the NFL these days. If you are a Moss owner in fantasy, you have to feel great about this as he lands in a high powered offense who should be the clear RB1 at this point. I know Chase Brown is there, and I do like Brown a lot, but he is the perfect compliment to Moss who should be used in the passing game as a big play guy. A guy that was cut by the Bills a few years ago went from almost no fantasy value to quite a bit.

Antonio Gibson finds a new home with the Patriots after spending the first four seasons with Washington. Coming in to the league as a rookie, he had a solid two seasons and finished as RB12 in each of his first two seasons. The last two years, he has taken a step back after Brian Robinson landed there and rightfully so. We know that Gibson’s strength is as a pass catcher and although he has done a fine job in that category, we thought it would have been higher. This is a guy who was really a WR in college before getting drafted, so we would think a team would use him as so. He now lands next to Rhamondre Stevenson and this will help take work off of Stevenson as Gibson should be used more as a pass catcher in this offense. We will see what they do at QB in the draft, but at the very worst, this is a lateral move.

Devin Singletary will land with his third team in his career after signing with the Giants. Singy has never been viewed as a solid RB in fantasy and if anything, he could be a fine flex guy. But he has proven us all wrong each year and even last year, he was able to take over the lead back role over Dameon Pierce in Houston and did a fine job in doing so. He was good enough last year that the Giants gave him a decent 3 year deal to (at this point) be the lead back there after the departure of Saquon Barkley. Now I do get the Giants could be one of the worst teams in the NFL this season, but volume is king with RBs. If he is in fact the RB1 there, he once again could outperform his flex appeal in fantasy for 2024.

The offseason just gets crazier with the RBs! We have heard Joe Mixon being talked about being a cut candidate for the last two seasons and the Bengals finally did it. The second they signed Zach Moss, they were fine letting Mixon go, but before they were able to actually cut him, the Texans stepped in and traded for him so they could for sure have him on their team. If you have been a Mixon owner since he came in to the NFL, you know it has been a love/hate kind of relationship. Regardless, he has done well the last few years and the Texans get a massive upgrade at the RB position for a team that really has all the pieces now. It is going to be a fun offense to watch who will be scoring a lot of points, so it is good to be a Mixon owner still.

The Packers signed Josh Jacobs early during free agency and we wondered what that would mean for Aaron Jones. Well, soon after that Jones was cut by the Packers the signed by the Vikings right away, It was great to see Jones picked up so quick and to a team that was in need for RB. Mattison was cut by the team earlier and he never panned out there (TSF warned you). The team does have Ty Chandler who was better then Mattison when he go the opportunity last year, but they knew they needed an upgrade. Jones had an injury riddled year in 2023, but he did have 10 or more fantasy points 6 out of 10 games last season. Vikings get a guy that can take the ball to the house in one play and regardless who the QB is, the offense is still explosive and it may work out better for Jones if it is Darnold or a rookie since they will lean on the run game more.

Gus Edward has always been that ‘what if’ guy in fantasy. Pretty much, what if Edwards was a lead back in the NFL? We know Gus has looked great in a limited role his hole career and in his first three years, he averaged over 5 YPC in each season. He had to be more of lead back last season when Dobbins went down Week 1, but he did only have 198 carries in 17 total games. We would think it would be more, but we do know the Ravens use Lamar in the running game as well. He is now the lead back for now in LA, but they will likely draft a rookie RB in the draft. Even if they do draft a rookie, Gus is a massive winner in free agency because at worst, it is a 50/50 split. If they do not draft a rookie early, then his ceiling is even higher. It is good to be a Gus owner right now.

I was always sad to see what the Chargers did to Ekeler. He took a team friendly deal with them years ago and after massive seasons, he just wanted a fair contract. He never got it and after 2023 it was obvious the Chargers and Ek were parting ways. He lands in Washington on a cheaper deal than other RBs this offseason, so that is huge for the Commanders. It is not the best spot fantasy wise for him since they already have Brian Robinson, but Ek is that special kind of RB that he should be able to put up numbers no matter where he is. Brian Robinson is a massive loser this offseason because he has never had a back like Ek with him in this offense. I see this being an even split in 2024 and we will see Ek have his 20 point games, but he will also give us those 2-5 point games.

The Giants messed up so bad letting Barkley go. I know some Giants fans are burning his jersey after joining a division rival, but Barkley tried his best to try and stay in New York and the Giants are the ones who blew it. He goes to a much better offense and much better offensive line. They get a massive upgrade at RB from the last few seasons and they are going to use him as an actual lead back. I get that Swift was good last season in this offense, but can you imagine Barkley with the same work (tuck it up Derek). I know some people are cared because Jalen Hurts scores so much on the ground, but we cannot forget that Miles Sanders has 11 rushing TDs in 2022 for this same team. Bark is going to get his and this is the best landing spot for him.

It has bene a crazy offseason with all the RBs that were signed the first two days of free agency. In the past few years, it has taken week for these guys to sign, but it has been a blast to see all these guys sign early. I am happy to see Jacobs out of Las Vegas and join a young, upcoming team with the Packers. With the signing, it meant the team cut Aaron Jones, which hurts me, but I get it. Jacobs stock goes way up as he lands on a team who should be scoring a lot more in 2024. Packers have wanted a guy like Jacobs for years and they knew AJ Dillon was never going to be that guy. Yes, I know the resigned him, but Dillon is a better backup than a starter. He is back in the RB1 case for 2024 and I am excited to watch this team go to work.

We are all massive fans of Henry and we could not be happier that he landed with the Ravens. The Ravens biggest hole for years has been the RB position, and now they have one of the best RBs in the NFL. We all knew Ravens would sign a RB in free agency since it never worked out with JK Dobbins, but TSF nailed this one. Henry is the perfect fit for this offense that has wanted to relieve Lamar for years on running so much. Henry is older and I get that, but he was able to be a top 8 RB last season on a poor Titans team. I know he may be ranked outside the 10 at the running back position this year on most sites, but I cannot see him finishing outside of that. He will be a guy I am reaching on in all my drafts.

Minshew Mania continues and we are all here for it. Minshew has always been that fan favorite ever sense he came in to the league. We knew he was not that good, but he was a fun guy to root for. He did silence a lot of people last year when he took over for the Colts once Anthony Richardson went down. He was able to keep the Colts alive for the 2023 season and, once again, he was a blast to watch. The Raiders have not had the best luck at the QB position in the last few years and they signed Minshew early in the offseason. I do know they also have Aidan O’Connell that could be the starter, but from what I have seen with Minshew in the past, he is the guy I want to start in 2024. He was able to make Michael Pittman a top 15 WR, so we should see the same or more with Davante Adams this year.

I am a Drew Lock fan, and it is not that I think he is a starting QB in the NFL, but he is just fun to watch when he plays. He joins the Giants on a cheap deal for the 2024 season. This is a great signing for the Giants because even if Lock is just the backup, it is cheap backup QB money. I do believe there is a chance that there is a QB battle in the offseason with Lock and Daniel Jones. In one of the worst moves of our time, the Giants gave Jones a massive deal and they are regretting it ever sense. The Giants need to stop continuing to start Jones just because they paid him. They messed up and need to move on. We also know that the team could draft a QB in this draft class, but if I am a Giants fan, I would much rather see Lock start during a bridge year.

Darnold inks a 1-Year deal with the Vikings. I would not think I would have to talk about Sam Darnold in this article, but at this point, he can be viewed as the starting QB for the Vikings. We all know the Vikings lost Kirk Cousins in free agency to Atlanta, so we were curious how the team would fill that void. It is not the sexiest name out there, but it could be a lot worse. Darnold backed up Purdy last year in San Fran and although he did not get much work outside of Week 18, he still was still able to learn under Shanahan. He goes to a team with top tier talent at WR in Justin Jefferson and also rookie Jordan Addison. We do believe Vikings could trade up for a QB this coming draft, but even if they do so, Darnold could still be the starter for most of 2024 while whatever rookie sits and learns behind him.

I will always say how the Browns make the playoffs in 2022 if they keep Jacoby as the starter instead of bring Watson back after his suspension. This is not a sexy move, but the Pats likely draft a QB in the first round this year and Jacoby is the perfect bridge QB if the Pats want the rookie QB to sit a year. He has been apart of many offensive schemes during his career and every one he is in, he seems to produce when giving the opportunity. This is a guy who made Amari Cooper a top 8 fantasy WR just two years ago. I am saying he going to make Bourne that, but it shows he is able to provide some fantasy value wherever her goes. Pats could draft and play the rookie right away, but if they do not want to, they have a decent option for 2024 and all the Zappe truthers, please shut up.

Mother and fathers out there, tell your kids grow up being a QB. And not only that, just an average QB, that way you are drafted late and are able to get the franchise tag in NFL for multiple years, then able to sign a missive contract when they are in their 30s. I may be one of the biggest fans of Cousins, but it blows my mind how much money this man has made in his NFL career and he only has 1 playoff win to show for it. Regardless, this is a great landing spot for this offense. They have some of the most talented young players in the NFL on the offensive side of ball that have been held back for year. With a guy like Cousins, this makes London, Piitts, and Bijan much more attractive in fantasy. No Arthur Smith anymore and they finally get a QB they have looked for since Matt Ryan. He may not be the best in playoffs, but we are playing fantasy and this is a massive win for these players. Cousins likely stays as a low end QB1/high QB2 in fantasy which is what we want.

Cowboys were smart to tag Pollard last year because we all saw that he was not worth top dollar in the RB market. He did finish as RB14 in fantasy which is fine, but there were weeks where w did not know if we should even start Pollard. He had 8 weeks below 10 fantasy points in Half PPR, so that show you that he was true hit or miss kind of RB last season. We have said for year that Pollard was no able to be a lead back when given the opportunity and we were shown last year. It was surprising that he signed so quickly once free agency opened up and with the Titans. They already have similar back in Spears there and we thought hey would bring an early down back there, but they went ahead and signed Pollard. Not sure how this backfield is going to look with two guys who have not been able to handle am early-down workload at this point in their careers, but the Titans are loading up on offense all around to try and make it work.

Within 5 minutes of free agency opening, Swift signed right away with the Bears. Swift was someone we thought would stay with Philly after they traded for him in 2023 and playing well for the team. But the team looks to go in a different direction, and was fine with letting Swift walk. With such a fast signing, you would think the Bears plan to use Swift as the lead back, but there are still a few mouths to feed with Herbert and R Johnson in the backfield. We know the Bears love to use multiple RBs, so I do not think this is an upgrade for Swift at this time, unless they are able to trade another back away this offseason. He goes from one of the better offenses in the league to one of the worst, so if people in your dynasty leagues are excited about this signing, try and trade him away at his peak value.
