Players to Pick Up Now – Week 5

We all love the waiver wire each week during the season, but there are weeks where you don’t get your guys. It may be that you were a lower waiver, or you did not bid enough FAAB to get your guy. If that is the case, there are still options out there and players you can pick up now before they become waiver wire targets next week. We will give you some players that may have a breakout game or players that you should keep at the end of your bench incase of injury.

First let’s look at the players that were suggested last week to pick up. The biggest player that hit was Jamison Crowder who ended up being a hot waiver add in Week 5:

Jamison Crowder: Week 4 Results – 9 Targets, 7 Receptions, 61 Rec Yards, 1 TD (15.60 Fantasy Points)

Curtis Samuel: Week 4 Results – 4 Targets, 4 Receptions, 19 Rec Yards (3.90 Fantasy Points)

Nick Westbrook-Ikhine: Week 3 Results – 8 Targets, 3 Receptions, 29 Yards (4.40 Fantasy Points)

Now let’s get to the other players out there that could have a big week and you should grab before it is too late. Now I am not saying these guys will for sure break out this week and if you pick them up to keep at the end of the bench and they don’t do anything, just drop them at the end of the day.

Kadarius Toney – 12% Owned

With both Shepard and Slayton out last week, Toney was finally able to get on the field and care out a role. He was targeted 9 times and caught 6 of those for 78 yards. Now both Shepard and Slayton are out once again for Week 5 and Toney should be able to carve out the same role against the Cowboys. The coach came out and said that even when all WRs are back and healthy that he wants Toney on the field more, so if he has another big game this week, it will be hard for the Giants to not focus in on their first round pick going forward.

Elijah Moore – 21% Owned

Moore missed last week with a concussion and Crowder was finally able to get on the field. Crowder looked good, so it does not look great for the rookie Moore, but we need to remember the preseason hype and how he looked like the best WR on the team all summer. Zach Wilson had a bad start to the season, but is looking like he is finally settling in. They drafted Moore high and he is their future, so I do see them trying to get him involved early this week against a poor defense in Atlanta.

Darnell Mooney – 45% Owned

Mooney was a hot sleeper going in to drafts, but did not produce much to start until last week. Last week he got 5 balls for 125 yards, but he is still under 50% owned in fantasy. It seems like Fields looks to him the most which is killing A-Rob. If he has another similar week against the Raiders, he will likely be one of the biggest waiver adds going in to Week 6. Toss him at the end of your bench now before it is too late.

Michael Gallup – 46% Owned

This one is not because I think he will pop off this week because he is still out with a groin injury. The point I am making here is that he should be back by Week 6 and if you can stash him now, it should pay off. We need to remember that he was targeted 7 times in the season opener before going down, so he could have had an even bigger game. He was a bounce back candidate for TSF going in to the season and he is on one of the best offenses in the league. If he is back for Week 6, he will be a popular add regardless, so get him now before you have to waste FAAB on him.
