Players to Pick Up Now – Week 2

I started this article last year and I think it was a success. Long story, short, I am going to point out a few players each week to pick up now before you have to spend FAAB or a high waiver claim going in to the following week. These are players who are owned in less then 50% of leagues that you can pick up before Sunday kickoff who have the chance to become a high waiver wire player.

Brian Robinson – 49% Owned

Robinson of course is not playing this week, but if he is still available in your leagues, you need to pick him up now before it is too late. Robinson solidified the starting RB spot for Washington before he was shot and put on the IR for four weeks. With the news that Robinson is already running individual drills after Week 1 is massive. This just shows that he will more than likely be ready to go for his Week 5 return. Antonio Gibson did fine Week 1, but the Commanders had a plan for him and I do not think they just give up on that plan. He could be a solid flex/RB2 play as soon as he comes back and he needs to be rostered in all leagues.

Tyler Allgeier – 14% Owned

Allgeier was a surprise healthy scratch in Week 1 and the owners who took a shot draft day on this rookie quickly dropped him. The reason he needs to be picked up is because Damien Williams is now on the IR and is out for at least the next 4 weeks. Patterson is the guy to own in the backfield, but we know that Patterson’s body cannot handle 20 plus carries a game. The Falcons want to use two backs even if it is a 70/30 split. Allgeier will get his shot this week and if does have a good game, he will be a high waiver wire player going in to Week 3. Get him on your roster now and save that FAAB.

Tyrion Davis-Price/Jordan Mason – 7%/6% Owned

Eli Mitchell is likely out 2 months and Jeff Wilson is the next man up. I do believe that Wilson is a great start in Week 2, but we have seen the Niners go deep in their depth chart to find the next RB up. It is hard to own both players on your bench, but if you can add one as a dart throw, I would right away. We could see a split backfield without Mitchell there and Mason made the roster over Trey Sermon. I would pick up Mason before Davis-Price, but both should be picked up and placed at the end of your bench just in case!

Kylen Granson – 0% Owned

This is a massive dart throw, but I do think Granson could be the TE for Matt Ryan going forward this season. In Week 1, he played about the same amount of snaps as Mo Alie-Cox, but he saw 7 targets compared to 2 targets to Ali-Cox. He did not do much with those targets and only caught 3 balls with 22 yards, but he has a chance to have an expanded role this week. Michael Pittman and Alec Pierce are out this week for Indy and everyone is talking about Ashton Dulin as being the next man up, but do not be surprised if Granson is the one who takes advantage of the top two WRs out. We have seen TEs have success with Matt Ryan under center and I want to that TE in the Indy offense. I believe that TE is Granson for this offense.

THE WRAP UP

Those are the few players I like this week for pickups before they hit waiver wire. These are players that are worth a spot on your bench and if they do not hit, then they are easy drops going in to Week 3, but you might as well take a shot on these guys in case they hit. I will be doing this article every week before the Sunday games so make sure you keep up with it throughout the season!
