Players to Pick Up Now – Week 10

Another week and another Players to Pick Up Now article for you all. So far, we have hit on at least one player each week, but last week did not go so well. Still one solid player we got right, but not as nice as previous weeks.

There were some big misses, but one player that ended up being a nice pickup was Mark Ingram. Even with Kamara, we saw Ingram get work which is what the Saints wanted to do to limit Kamara, but now Kamara is out this week. Ingram is in a great spot and should be viewed as a solid RB2 this week. Lets break down the picks from last week.

Jeff Wilson Jr.: Week 9 Results – Activated off IR, but did not play a snap (0.00 Fantasy Points)

Scott Phillips: Week 9 Results – 1 Rush, 2 Rush Yards; hurt in 1st quarter, placed on IR (0.20 Fantasy Points)

Mark Ingram II: Week 9 Results – 9 Rush, 43 Rush Yards, 5 Tgts, 5 Rec, 21 Rec Yards (8.90 Fantasy Points)

Bryan Edwards: Week 9 Results – 4 Tgts (0.00 Fantasy Points)

Now let’s get to the other players out there that could have a big week and who you should grab before it is too late. Now I am not saying these guys will for sure break out this week, and if you pick them up you should keep them at the end of your bench, and if they don’t do anything, just drop them at the end of the day. But these guys could hit big and then next week you aren’t scrapping for them with FAAB bids against multiple other league managers.

Van Jefferson Jr. – 36% Owned

Well right before writing this article, I got the news that Robert Woods tore his ACL in practice and is out for the season. Tough blow for the Rams, but thank God they got OBJ the other day. Now everyone is hyping up OBJ to take that spot, which he likely will, but this always opens up plenty of opportunity for Van Jefferson. He was dropped in several leagues once OBJ went there, but now it is time to pick him back up. We liked him as a play before OBJ came in, and now we should like him even more. OBJ still has to pick up the offense, so Van can be sneaky this week.

Kenneth Gainwell – 31% Owned

Gainwell was a hot pickup when Miles Sanders went down, but since then, he has been the 3rd RB on the team behind Jordan Howard and Boston Scott. I still do not understand it, but oh well. This is a guy I do not want to start this week, but it does not hurt to stash him if you have a spot just in case. They play Denver who has been great against RBs, so if they are forced to throw more in this one, Gainwell could have that same role he had earlier this season. Stash him if you can and worse comes to worst, just drop him.

Alex Collins – 41% Owned

Collins has filled in decently for Chris Carson, but he has less than 5 fantasy points in the last 2 weeks. Carson was eligible to come off IR this week, but he will not suit up once again. Collins was dropped by a lot of teams after the Carson news, but he is still the lead back for at least one more week. With Russell Wilson coming back, they will get back on track with their offense which is run the ball effectively to open up the deep shots. With that, Collins should have a nice bounce back game. Carson could still be out longer as well, so if he is out there, grab him.

Donovan Peoples-Jones – 28% Owned

I am surprised that Peoples-Jones is only 28% owned after his big game last week. I mean he did only have 2 receptions with one being a long TD score, but since OBJ is gone, he should still see plenty of work. Landry did not do anything last week so it’s not like he is the only one to own on the team for a WR. He is more of a boom or bust player, but with his snap percentage growing each week with the departure of OBJ, he should have a few more big games this season.

THE WRAP UP

Those are the few players I wanted to talk about this week and again, if none of them pan out, just cut them for other waiver wire adds next week. The four teams on byes this week are the Bears, Bengals, Texans, and Giants. Some players may have been dropped, or may still be available to stash for when they come off the bye.

A few players I would look at that may have been dropped or still out there would be Allen Robinson, Darnell Mooney, Kenny Golladay, and Kadarius Toney.
