Fantasy Football Injury Impact Report

All season long we are going to see injury after injury, this report is to find the impact of each injury. Injuries are one of the major factors for in season shaping and reshaping your fantasy teams. We are including important defensive injuries as well in case there are any notable injuries on the defense to take advantage of. This article will be updated before Sunday matchups to give you a clear injury report going into the weekend. If there is a player not listed, that is because the player is expected to play (used to be the probable tag).

Last Update: 9/17/2022

Commanders @ Lions (1:00 EDT)

Lions:

Offensive Line

Status: Hurt

Impact: There’s different statuses for each, but notably the starting Center Frank Ragnow is already ruled out with 2 separate injuries. The starting LG Jonah Jackson and the starting LT Taylor Decker are in danger of missing the game as well. Now DeAndre Swift looked unstoppable last week so this may not mean anything, but Swift is also highly questionable. If all 3 of these lineman sit and Jamaal Williams gets the start than really lower your expectations for Williams.

RB // DeAndre Swift

Status: Questionable (Ankle)

Impact: DeAndre has said he should be fine, but sometimes it is not the player’s call. Should he not go Jamaal Williams will get all of the touches, but from what the Oline looks like, I’m not sure he could be started with confidence.

Panthers @ Giants (1:00 EDT)

Giants:

WR // Wan’Dale Robinson

Status: Out (Knee)

Impact: This is no surprise has he seemed to be ruled out early on in the week. If Toney can play He won’t have Wan’Dale competing for slot snaps, only Sterling Shepard.

Defensive Line // Kayvon Thibodeaux & Azeez Ojulari

Status: Both Doubtful

Impact: Once again the Giants are going to be without their top 2 young edge rushers giving more time for the Panthers offense to pass the ball, something Baker desperately needs.

Secondary // Aaron Robinson, Nick McCloud, and Jason Pinnock

Status: All Out

Impact: Now these guys aren’t game changing starters, but all contributors. A completed depleted secondary like this will give the Panthers 3rd and 4th WR flex appeal in daily fantasy formats. I heard Terrance Marshall’s name mentioned this week as someone coming along in practice.

Colts @ Jaguars (1:00 EDT)

Colts:

WR // Alec Pierce

Status: Out (Concussion)

Impact: This almost seems like the Colts using the concussion as an excuse to sit Pierce as he had a poor game last week. The Colts will look to get Ashton Dulin and Parris Campbell more involved.

WR // Michael Pittman Jr.

Status: Questionable (Quad)

Impact: This one seems a bit more in the highly Questionable category than anyone in the league as he did not practice all week. Should Pittman not go, Jonathan Taylor will have to have 30+ carries again and Ashton Dulin will become the WR1.

LB // Shaquille Leonard

Status: Out (Back)

Impact: This comes as a surprise as he practiced all week, but it is very worth noting one of the Top 5 LBs in the league is sitting out. Big bump to the Jags run game.

Patriots @ Steelers (1:00 EDT)

Patriots:

RB // Ty Montgomery

Status: Out/IR (Knee)

Impact: One would think Montgomery would not be so impactful, but he started the season as the receiving back for the Patriots which is a highly coveted role for fantasy football. Now that he is out we need to see who gets the role before we assume anything, but once we know, go after that player.

Steelers:

Edge // T.J. Watt

Status: Out/IR (Pec)

Impact: You don’t need me to tell you Watt is a game wrecker, this is a massive bump for the whole Patriots offense with him sitting.

Jets @ Browns (1:00 EDT)

Jets:

TE // C.J. Uzomah

Status: Doubtful (Hamstring)

Impact: Not really impactful to anyone else other than saying Tyler Conklin is getting more work with Uzomah out.

QB // Zach Wilson

Status: Out (Knee)

Impact: Again as we saw last week Joe Flacco will be the QB, making it hard to trust anyone in this offense.

Buccaneers @ Saints (1:00 EDT)

Buccaneers:

WR // Chris Godwin

Status: Out (Hamstring)

Impact: This is rough for a guy who made his way back from an ACL injury to play week 1. With Godwin out we do know Mike Evans, Julio Jones, and Russell Gage are going to get more work. Even with them dealing with injuries of their own, we should see all three of them suit up. I expect the biggest beneficiary to be Julio Jones.

LT // Donovan Smith

Status: Doubtful (Elbow)

Impact: This offensive line has come into the season extremely banged up. They are already on their 3rd string center and now are trending to be without their starting LT. They may move Wirfs over to LT, but either way the offensive line going out this Sunday is shaky at best. Add in they play one of the better defenses in the league and TB12 might be in for a rough day.

Saints:

RB // Alvin Kamara

Status: Questionable (Rib)

Impact: This one could go either way as a Rib injury should be handled with a RB sitting out all week of practice. That is exactly what the Saints did this week, which also could be looked at as really alarming and Kamara could sit. If he does sit, Ingram will get the start and Lat Murray might get called up from the practice squad. Tampa is a tough defense so I wouldn’t expect much out of any RB for the Saints.

Dolphins @ Ravens (1:00 EDT)

Ravens:

CB // Marlon Humphrey

Status: Questionable (Groin)

Impact: He did not get in any practice this week, if he does not suit up both Hill and Waddle are in for double digit fantasy days.

RB // JK Dobbins

Status: Questionable (Knee)

Impact: This could be it, Dobbins could finally play, however, it is still going to be a game time decision and I am taking a wait and see approach as a fantasy manager since we have no idea how much they are going to control his snaps as they have proven to already baby his return from injury and rightfully so.

LT // Ronnie Staley

Status: Doubtful (Ankle)

Impact: Staley has not suited up in a long time anyway so the impact of him being out isn’t large, however, if he does get to suit up than his impact on the field will be large.
