Week 3 Waiver Wire

Some of these Week 3 players are going to look familiar and we certainly hope you took our advice last week and got some of these players for a discount. We also have a handful of other players, who through 2 weeks, deserve a pick up. As always players are listed from our highest priority add to lowest with FAAB recommendations. Stay Fluid, Stay Loose and FAAB Responsibly

Tony Pollard, RB

It seems as though a lot of people are writing off Tony Pollard as the beneficiary of a negative game script this week in the Cowboys match up with the chargers. I don’t think this is fair. He had three fewer touches than Ezekiel Elliott, went for over 100 yards, and managed to find the end zone. So long as the Cowboys continue to show faith in a truly split backfield Pollard should have viability as a flex play week in and week out.

Week 2 Points: 21.5 (13 carries 3 catches 140 total yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $8 – $16

Rondale Moore, WR

Moore had a big Week 2 after a so-so performance in Week 1, bolstered by a long 77 yard TD on a blown coverage. But 5 targets followed up by 8 targets is an inclusion in the offense you like to see out of the talented rookie. It might be tough to nail down who will contribute each week, but if he keeps flirting with that high single digit target range, the yards and scores are bound to follow.

Week 2 Points: 20.9 (17 catches 114 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $8 – $14

Sony Michel, RB

This one is quite simple, Henderson is hurt and the only viable replacements are Sony Michel and Jake Funk. Michel has the edge in experience, is the more polished runner at this point in both players’ careers, and is a much better pass blocker. If Henderson is out this week and/or misses extended time, Michel should have a large role going forward. And don’t forget, the last time we saw him play in New England he looked to be much improved as a pass catcher as well. Upside is massive for Sony, but his floor remains quite low, so he’s a guy I would spend a bit to get, but not someone I think you will net those Elijah Mitchell $80+ bids this week.

Week 2 Points: 4.6 (10 carries 46 total yards)

FAAB Bid: $5-$11

James White, RB

Rookie QBs appear to be a feature of our RB adds this week. Mac Jones looked to James White early and often, and we saw that pay off for a 15.50 point week for Sweet Feet. He draws a matchup with the Saints in Week 3, which albeit not the most favorable for a traditional RB, may actually work to White’s advantage, as he is more of a pass catcher out of the backfield, where the Saints have not been as strong. White is a weekly flex play at this point, and his ceiling could be even higher.

Week 2 Points: 18.5 (5 carries 6 catches 65 total yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $5 – $11

J.D. McKissic, RB

With former starting QB FitzSwag down for a bit with a hip injury, Heinicke steps in and immediately does what all young rookie QBs do… peppers the safety valve RB out of the backfield. As long as Heinicke is under center, McKissic is a huge value play, especially in any iteration of PPR scoring. The interesting part though, this past week they used McKissic on the goal line to punch one in, which is a nice wrinkle and probably caught the D off guard, since that’s never really been his game. RIverboat Ron looks like he finally knows how to use McKissic to confuse a defense, and that’s a great sign. Add him now before he costs an arm and a leg.

Week 2 Points (4 carries 5 catches 93 total yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $4 – $9

Michael Carter, RB

Even against a tough Patriot defense in a game where the Jets trailed, Carter saw his total carries increase from Week 1, and he looked good with each touch. Averaging over 5 yards a carry and taking 2 catches for 29 yards, he was a TD away from a huge week. This uptick in production is promising, but the existence of Ty Johnson still offers a limiting factor to how high Carter’s ceiling can really rise. Tevin Coleman, however, seems to have fallen by the wayside and is now purely a change of pace back. Carter should be the guy to own going forward, I’d add him this week as a stash and see if he can produce. With the injuries on the RB landscape, he may be a flex play in the near future.

Week 2 Points: 10.8 (11 carries 2 catches 88 total yards)

FAAB Bid: $4 – $9

Cordarrelle Patterson, RB

It comes as a bit of a shock to most that Patterson is eating into Mike Davis’ workload as much as he is, but it’s not without good reason. He is a gifted athlete with solid hands who can provide some extra flexibility and disguise to the Falcons offense. He can run between the tackles and outside, or flex out and receive targets from the slot. There’s no way around it, this is a 1a/1b backfield, and Davis is quickly losing ground to Patterson.

Week 2 Stats: 7 carries 5 catches 69 (nice) total yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $3 – $8

Zach Pascal, WR

This is up from 1% ownership a week ago, so SOME of you are listening. He’s now posted 18.30 pts against the Seahawks and 12.30 pts against the Rams, while drawing a soft matchup with the Titans in Week 3. If you need WR help, he should be a target. The limiting factor for him is the health of Carson Wentz. If Wentz misses time, Pascal will undoubtedly take a hit, but all that means is you should be able to snag him on the cheap this week and then just wait for Wentz to return. Sprained ankles aren’t the end of the world, he’ll be back.

Week 2 Points: 14.8 (5 catches 38 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $4 – $7

Henry Ruggs III, WR

Ruggs saw 7 targets that he turned into 5 catches for 113 yards and a TD. That’s all well and good, but 61 of those yards and the score came on one play. This is what we have come to expect from Ruggs though, a true boom or bust option in this Raider offense. Week to week this offense can be hard to predict, outside of Darren Waller there is no consistent top performer, but if you’re looking for a potential home run hitter in your lineup, Ruggs fits that bill.

Week 2 Points: 22.5 (5 catches 113 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $2 – $5

Darius Slayton, WR

Daniel Jones has been looking Slayton’s way quite a bit, even more it seems than Kenny Golladay at some points. This attention led Slayton to a 12.90 point game against their division rival Washington, and as Atlanta comes to town in Week 3 Slayton should look to stay on the same page with Jones and post another WR3+ caliber day. He also missed a TD on what some would call a drop, others would say the ball was an inch too far out of his reach, but no matter how you slice it, his 12.90 point day could have easily eclipsed 20 with a touch more luck.

Week 2 Points: 14.4 (3 catches 54 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $2 – $5

Hunter Renfrow, WR

Renfrow’s involvement in the passing game through 2 weeks is second only to Darren Waller’s. He has seen 9 targets and then 7 targets, so there isn’t really any reason you shouldn’t be adding him to your rosters. He is yet to find the endzone in 2021, but with this level of usage in an offense that is struggling to find consistent playmakers, the TDs should be coming.

Week 2 Points: 10.7 (5 catches 57 yards)

FAAB Bid: $1 – $4

K.J. Osborn, WR

Osborn seems to have cemented himself in that WR3 role in MIN, and that’s a promising sign. Thielen and Jefferson are still likely the two to own from a season-long standpoint, but for now, Osborn has posted double digit point totals in back to back weeks and appears to be a favored target of Kirk Cousins. Ride the hot hand, and for flex play, you could do much worse.

Week 2 Points: 20.1 (5 catches 91 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $1 – $4

Maxx Williams, TE

The Arizona Cardinals have not had a standout TE on their team or involved in their passing game for as long as anyone can remember. Maxx Williams is a freak of an athlete who has never really put it all together on the field. If this is the beginning of a sign of things to come, I want to buy in early and on the cheap. The Cards play Jacksonville next week, where apparently everyone is going to have huge games, and if Williams is involved like Week 2 (7 targets for 7 catches and 94 yards), I want to buy into that heavily. Add a TD in there and you’re looking at elite TE production.

Week 2 Points: 16.4 (7 catches 94 yards)

FAAB Bid: $1 – 2

Freddie Swain, WR

No one is the clear 3rd WR in the Seattle offense for the time being, and Swain had huge usage in Week 2, nabbing all five of his targets for 95 yards and a score. He was also used as a runner on one play. This gadgety implementation of an athletic young receiver is very intriguing, and is worth taking note if you are weak at WR. He could easily be a weekly flex play in one of the league’s most electrifying passing attacks.

Week 2 Points: 21 (5 catches 95 yards 1 TD)

FAAB Bid: $0 – $2

Jacoby Brissett, QB

This add is contingent upon news that Tua will miss time. That MIA offense could benefit from a big arm quarterback, and that’s just what Brissett is. He is also very familiar with Brian Flores and the team’s offensive system, as he already has several plays installed for himself, even when Tua is on the field. I would be interested to buy him, especially in 2 QB formats.

Week 2 Points: 6.56 ( 24 completions 169 yards 1 INT 4 carries 8 rushing yards)

FAAB Bid: $0 – $1
