Thursday Night Preview – Colts @ Titans

The 5-3 Colts will take on the 6-2 Titans for the Week 10 Thursday Night Football matchup. I must say, on paper, this has to be one of the better TNF games on the season and I do hope both teams come out strong. Indy is coming off a loss and will make sure they try and get back on track against Derrick Henry’s Titans.

After seeing the Colts play last week, I am surprised they are favored by 1 in this one, but it is still close enough of a spread and I am willing to take the Titans at plus 1.0. I think this is a prime Derrick Henry game after rushing the ball for only 68 yards off 21 carries last week. Henry will come out big and we may see a 2 TD game from the man child tonight. I know Indy is a tough defense against opposing RBs, but we all know Henry is matchup proof, so he’s an obvious start here.

As for the Colts, the running game there has been a headache the last few weeks and they seem to be using all three in Jonathan Taylor, Jordan Wilkins, and Nyheim Hines. I do believe Taylor is their best back, but Wilkins has looked fine and Hines seems to be the 3rd down back. News came out a few weeks ago that Taylor was banged up which makes more sense in why all three backs were used, but after losing a fumble last week, Taylor did not receive another carry, which is never a good sign. It will be interesting to see how they use him this week, but as for Indy RBs, I am starting Taylor as a flex play and keeping the other two on my bench.

As for the QBs, I am not sure if either one is a Week 10 starter, but I would lean towards Ryan Tannehill right on the verge there. For Rivers, we have seen him have big games over 20 points, then a game last week with under 10 points. I know Hilton was out last week and is now back, but I am not sure he is the one to make Rivers a startable QB. Mainly, we do not know which Philip Rivers we are getting each week, and I do not want to bank on him as my starter in fantasy this week. For Tanny, he is currently QB10 on the season, but has not been able to put up QB1 numbers in the last 3 weeks. If this is going to be a big Derrick Henry game like I expect, I may look for a better option as the Colts are a difficult matchup for opposing QBs.

Before we get into the receivers in this game, we just wanted to give our thoughts and prayers to Corey Davis and his family after he lost his brother this week from cancer. With that sad news, Davis still plans to suit up tonight and play, which you have to love to see out of the young man. After a dud last week, Davis should be able to bounce back and be viewed as a WR3/flex play while his teammate AJ Brown will be a no doubt WR1 start against the Colts. The only other receiving option from the Titans would be Jonnu Smith. He scored last week, but has not been startable for weeks before that. With the TE landscape as it is, Smith is still an every week starter.

Moving over to the Colts side, I am not sure if I can play any WR or TE in this game with confidence. If you are a TY Hilton or Trey Burton owner, you may just have to roll with them and hope for the best, but if you have better options out there, it is safe to sit them. With Rivers under center, we just do not know what receiver will lead the team any given week and I hate that it really is a lottery with Hilton, Pascal, Johnson, Pittman, and Burton. Again, you may have to start someone on the team, but I am trying to avoid at all costs.

Overall, this should be one of the better Thursday Night Football games to date this season and I do expect the Titans to take this one in a close game that could go down to the wire. For more betting advice, see below!
