2024 Busts

Nico Collins, WR

Every year I pick a guy I actually like as my bust, and more often than not, it hits. I think this is another year that will follow that trend. I love Nico Collins. Matter of fact, I have plenty of Nico Collins shares across dynasty and redraft leagues, and I’m sure I will add more this year if the value is right. But that’s the exact problem, and why he has made my bust list this year. His value is not in line with where he is being drafted. He is currently WR14 off draft boards, while his teammates Stefon Diggs and Tank Dell are lagging behind him at WR19 and WR29 respectively. CJ Stroud looks to be the real deal, but can he support 3 WR’s at this level? A fringe WR1, a middle of the pack WR2, and a mid caliber WR3? It’s a tough ask, and though it can be done, I’m not sure we have the order right. I think it’s more likely that Diggs ends the year as the top wideout in this group, and there’s a very good chance that Dell leapfrogs over Collins as well. Let’s not forget, when Dell was on the field last year, he was the primary beneficiary of Stroud’s deep shots, not Collins. I’d love to be wrong, but I don’t see a world where we cap off 2024 and Collins is flirting with WR1 range. I think he lands in the WR2-3 ballpark, and as such, will be a huge bust if you take him at his current ADP, to the point that he may be a league-loser. (Cory Dows)

Javonte Williams, RB

Williams was not great last season coming back from injury and was the RB30 in 16 games played. He looked like a shell of himself from his rookie season and I do get it takes some players a full year to recover and this should be the year he gets back on track. I am not buying that though and I do believe that the injury in 2022 really affected him and I am not sure he will ever be the same. Williams was also talked about being a cut candidate this summer. I do know that those reports have been quiet as of late, but we cannot forget that it was a possibility and talked about. They went out and drafted Estime in the 5th and although that is not a high pick, he is a guy who could be great at a goal line role. If Williams is not getting those opportunities to score, he does not have much fantasy value in my mind. Williams had 217 attempts and 58 targets last season and I do not really see a world where he sees more than that to help put his RB30 finish last season. Jaleel McLaughlin looked great at times his rookie year and that role will only grow and at this point. Samaje Perine is still on the team who is the best pass blocking RB on the team. I do not see a path for Williams to finish as a top 28 back. (Scott Miln)
